“Very comfortable stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here in a two bedroom suite with 4adults and 2 small children and 2 teens. The people at the desk were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It would have been nice to have had another bathroom for 8 people, but that may have been available in other rooms and we just didn't get booked in those suites. Don't know. Breakfast was very good and service there was great! There was a small fire/smoke situation which required an evacuation and that was handled well by the staff. The shuttle service to the Metro was excellent with courteous helpful drivers. All in all, a great value.

After Marriott lost my original reservation at a different property in this area, I booked here at TownePlace Suites. I booked two two - bedroom suites for 6 nights each for our nine Venture Crew Scouts to stay while we explored the nation's capital.

The total for each room was supposed to be $1202.88 for a total of $2405.76. We arrived on the 13th all excited for our trip. The rooms and staff were very nice. The rooms were clean and next to each other as promised. No complaints there.

The problems started three days later when our account was billed $1330 per room. I challenged this additional $254 with the front desk and told that it was for "incidentals". We were *never* told about this when booking or checking in. I was told that they would release all but $50 per room. It never happened

That was bad enough but it gets worse. Two days later an additional $200.48 per room was taken from our account in addition to the original amount for a total of $655.20 for "incidentals". That caused our account to be fully overdrawn, leaving us no more money to go out for our last trips of the week or the dinner we were going out to. Not to mention no money for expenses getting home.

This is inexcusable.

After multiple trips back and forth to the front desk, they agreed to "release" $254 but not the other $400.96 which continued to leave our account overdrawn.

So our last two days of our trip were completely ruined because we had no funds available to us because of the shady ways that TownePlace Suites and Marriott took our money from our account to and made it unavailable to us.

Thanks TownePlace Suites. My Scouts appreciate having earned and saved money for a big summer trip and then having to cancel all of the activities for almost three of the days. I'm sure the money will eventually catch up with us, but by then we'll be 300 miles away with bad memories of what should have been the highlight of their summer.

Room Tip: The rooms we had were clean. No real view to worry about.

Dear Jopoplawski:

Thank you very much for your review of our hotel. Please allow me to apologize again on behalf of the hotel for the challenges you experienced. As we discussed at check-in, your card was authorized for room and tax, as well as incidentals. At your request, due to pending deposits, we did not authorize the full amount as we understood all of the funding was not available at the time of your check-in. With that said, we did wait to authorize the remaining amount (room and tax, as well as incidentals) on the date you informed us the pending deposit was available. We are grateful that you enjoyed the accommodations our hotel provided and we look forward to seeing you again when your travels bring you back to our National's Capital.

OK, the halls don't have art work or perfume and the towels are flannel, but this brand is a great place for families of three or more. Parents get their own room--not a "privacy wall," but a room with a big, solid locking door. The living area is quite spacious and can handle sleeping bags for kids in case the sofa bed is not enough. The kitchen is tiny, but it is full. Bathroom is functional. Breakfast is a bit sparse, but everything is clean and the front desk is very helpful and pleasant. There is a sprawling shopping complex that begins across Brandon Avenue with some good dining options (I would recommend Malek's Pizza for families). I feared the mixer of interstates--95, 395, and 495 all merge next to the hotel, but I was on 495 North easily in two minutes. Room before tax was $150, not bad for a true suite with full kitchen.

Room Tip: Rooms on the interior, by the pool and away from Brandon Avenue, are quieter.

We, a family of three stayed here for three nights. Very nice location... Easy to go to the shopping area and also very close to the Springfield Franconia Metro.
The hello from the door mat, erection, key cards seems to be genuine.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The break fast spread is quite adequate. Even though we don't use kitchen, it seems to be adequately stuffed. Happy experience

Upon our arrival we were met by Harold, a very friendly and knowledgeable front desk man. He started our stay off great. The two bedroom suite we stayed in was nice for our family of four. We we able to easily access DC and the metro station is close by if needed. My kids enjoyed the pool though the hours were difficult for us to take full advantage since we were touring all day. The breakfast did not offer as many options as other hotels I have stayed at but it was ok. My family and I would stay here again.

Stayed here with a lot of family for my grandson's HS graduation. For an extended stay motel, this was in pretty good shape. Front desk staff was very helpful and answered any questions we had. Rooms were in very good shape in general. In our room, the refrigerator door did not close tightly but that was minor. Only issue for us was how late it took to get the rooms refreshed...usually after 4:00pm! Hard to give an above average rating, but for an extended stay venue, it was really pretty good. I have stayed in a lot of extended stay venues and this was actually one of the better ones. Breakfast was also pretty decent for this type of accommodation.

Room Tip: No really bad rooms as you are off of the freeway. I like the upper floor so you do not get the noi...

Hello Daniel S
Congratulations to you and your grandson! We are truly happy that you have chosen our hotel to be a part of such a special time for you and your family.
I am delighted you found our hotel clean, comfortable, and our hotel staff to be helpful. I am even happier reading that our hotel met your expectations. I am sorry about the issues you had with your refrigerator. We have found that some of our crispers were left askew after being cleaned which prevents the doors from closing properly. I apologize that you did not receive your refresh as early as you would have liked. Guest satisfaction is important to us, so rest assure that we take your comments very seriously. Thank you for your review and we look forward to serving you in the future.
