I stay at this hotel frequently for its convenience. It is one of the dumpier Hamptons under the Hilton brand. For anyone familiar with the Hampton Inns, this is reminiscent of what the Hamptons were in the 80s, before they moved upscale under the Hilton flagship brand. Simply contrast it with the Hampton Crystal City (I stay there frequently also) and you will see what I mean.
Basically the place is in desperate need of remodeling and the rooms are not very clean. The elevators are slow and one of them frequently out of order. It also has thin walls and you can hear people in the bathroom next to you as they do their business. This is defiantly not a hotel you would use for a robust erotic encounter with your spouse.
It appears a lot of their business is repeat business as I recognize several of the guests when I stay there. How anyone can stay in those small cramped room night after night is beyond me though.
On a positive note the staff really does try very hard to accommodate and help their guests. This hotel is run by the same people who have the Comfort Inn next door.
One nice touch that many Hamptons are doing more of is a nightly reception. This one really has some odd offerings though, chicken salad (yep – like in a can) and crackers and it is definitely low tier.
As I said I stay here for convenience sake. They try hard, but no matter how you look at it, you are dealing with a run down building, with old rooms that are constantly in hard use as this is a high volume hotel. Given the area the hotels are usually booked close to capacity. This has lower rates than some hotels in the area. If this unit was located anywhere else it would be greatly overpriced but for the greater DC area it has a decent price.
The hotel offer a free shuttle to the Blue Line of the DC Metro system which goes to Reagan Airport. It is across the road from the Springfield Mall which is undergoing a very needed renovation. There is also a good Hilton across the street, which has an exceptional staff and often the rooms are comparably priced.
Overall I like this hotel enough to continue to stay there but it is primarily because it is Hilton Brand property. . But there are many options within a ½ to 1 mile, Marriott proprieties for example.
So my impressions are the facility itself is slightly before average. The price is fair for the area. The staff is well above average. They do try hard.
