With this new addition to local cuisine, Morsi's Mediterranean Grill, along with Baba Ganoush (South Asian) across town, the 'Burg quickly is losing its provincial reputation and typical Virginian aversion to spice. "Mo" Morsi is an Egyptian-American with a great touch on the grill. All of his kabobs and grilled vegetables are first class, as are his appetizers (ex: roasted red pepper humus) and salads (fattoush and falafel). One intriguing entree --which I haven't yet tried -- is his Merqaz (spicy lamb sausage with couscous and mixed vegetables. Yum! Serving staff is super-attentive, the place is spotless, and you won't have to finance your lunch or dinner.
You have EZ access off I-95 (exit 126-Massaponax, six miles south of Fredericksburg). You can't go wrong here ... tell Mo, Jesse sent you! Morsi's is an exciting find in a small Virginia town
