“Service + Seafood = Smithfield Station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2009

Where else can you stay right on the river or in a beautiful lighthouse?

Smithfield Station was amazing. We stayed in the Lodge because the Lighthouse was booked (call a few months in advance for a weekend stay, they said). Our room was great! The bed was a king, the fireplace worked with the click of a button, and the balcony was perfect for sipping wine. There wera also two really comfortable chairs in the room - something I love because I hate staying at a hotel where the only seating is a desk chair or the bed itself.

What made our stay so great? Besides the extra-large, nearly-new room? The restaurant! My wife loves fresh seafood and she left impressed. However, I hate seafood... so I found plenty to order! I recommend the "Chicken Isle of Wight;" which is their regional take on a tradition cordon bleu. Yummy!

“Great get away, beautiful place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2009

We stayed at Smithfield Station for our Anniversary. We booked the Lighthouse Suite which is the upper level of a replica of the Hooper Strait Lighthouse. The room was beautiful with a king size bed, 2 person whirlpool tub and double shower. There is a gas fire place in the room for the cooler months. Very comfortable and clean. The beacon in the lighthouse operates from dusk to 11 pm (so your room isnt lit up all night). Prepare to wake up early because with all of the windows the the sun really lights up the room, but in such a beautiful place who wants to sleep anyway? There are wonderful views of the river from the top enclosure, but access is not allowed out on the "gallery area" due to safety concerns- we were a little disapointed but it was understandable. The one negative was a lack of parking. Smithfield Station is a popular riverside restaurant (and for good reason) so the limited parking can fill up, making it a long treck carrying luggage to the far end of the dock where the lighthouse is located. We were told that there were utility carts around the dock area, but we didn't see any. This small matter aside; the place was beautiful, friendly and romantic. We will definitely return.

“Perfect Romantic Escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2009

My wife and I purchased a Romantic Weekend package that included a bottle of champagne, flowers, and a two-night stay with breakfast off of the menu on Saturday morning, dinner with a bottle of wine Saturday evening, and a breakfast buffet on Sunday morning.

Check in was quick and easy. We were given a beautiful room on the third floor that had a small deck that overlooked the Pagan River and Smithfield Station Marina. The room was furnished with hand made furniture, had a king bed, gas fireplace, satellite TV, and small refrigerator. The bathroom had a granite countertop, a large Jacuzzi tub, and a large tiled shower.

The restaurant was one of the most pleasant aspects of our stay. Check for my restaurant review.

Smithfield Station has several small specialty shops on the first floor and is only a short walk from historic Smithfield.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! We will be back.

“Great Hotel Great Restaurant! Great Views! Great relaxation on the Pagan River”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2007

This isn't listed as a hotel which is unfortunate. They have 20 new rooms overlooking the Pagan River and roughly 20 rooms in the original hotel. One suite is a lighthouse, all with magnificant views. The rates are reasonable and it is a great romantic getaway in a quaint town with shops, a museum, and great southern hositality... not to mention great seafood and the Smithfield Ham.
