“Comfortable and convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

I picked this property due to location. It was close to a conference I was attending for work. I may be returning in the future for personal sightseeing in the Richmond area. It was a very quiet stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. It is fairly close to a nice shopping district with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Also right nearby are several gas stations with convenience stores. In my opinion, this would be a great base from which to explore the city.
The breakfast looked a little sparse though, which is fine for me since I usually only drink coffee anyway. I would recommend this for business and couples. Also if you travel with pets. I would not recommend it for those traveling with children or extended trips as the rooms are a little too small for that. Parking is not an issue apparently, even for larger trucks. The staff is average. Although they are knowledgable about the area, you have to ask a few questions to draw information out of them.

Room Tip: Pet friendly even the fees! lol

My husband and I stayed here for 8 days as we were house hunting and more expensive hotels were starting to drain our wallets. We paid 35 a night plus tax. This is a pretty old building. It could use A LOT of updates. We found that there were a couple damp spots on the carpet when we got here. Not sure what it was. The A/C unit could of used a good cleaning. There was dust and spots all over it. We couldn't find anything else that was blatantly gross about the place though. Bed sheets looked clean, never saw any bugs, etc. There was a cigarette kind of odor in the elevator which was really weird- not a big deal though. The hallways smelled weird too- but the rooms smelled completely neutral. The rooms are small- duh, it's a MICROtel. Wifi worked well. The breakfast was average- toast, bagels, little muffins, waffles, yogurt, 2 kinds of cereal. If you stay here, get up before the last hour of breakfast (So like, 7:30). Otherwise you'll be waiting a while to use the waffle maker and may not get a seat in the dining area. It's really small. The staff was very pleasant. It was very, very quite while we stayed. We never heard any other guests from our room. And the area isn't a bad one. Overall, for the price it's a pretty good deal. You just gotta get over how old the place is and how much updating it's lacking.

We looked for a place around Richmond VA at took this one because the price and that it Microtel but in fact it's not a Microtel quality. The room is not so clean, stains on the walls and the bathroom in bad condition. The breakfast is basic. You can stay here without risk but I suggest to do so only if you didn't find another one around the same price and with better reviews. The room is small and basic and not so good. The lady in the front desk was nice. They charge 50$ for pets!

This Microtel is a typical older Microtel--inexpensive, small rooms, no frills--but it met my basic needs very well. I stayed for 3 nights and slept well. The check-in and check-out staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was ok. The first morning I needed to leave before 6am, so the night clerk offered to grab some breakfast items for me the night before.

The property was clean and well-maintained. The only problem was the cold water. It didn't work in my first room--the choices were hot and way too hot--so when I mentioned it the next day, she moved me to another room. The cold water there worked at first, but by the end of the stay I could only get lukewarm and hot water there too. It wasn't a huge problem--the shower was fine--but it was annoying.

The Wawa gas station/c-store across the street is one of the cheapest in town and has a great selection of made-to-order food.

Next time I'm in Richmond I'll definitely book here again.

Receptionist was exceptional and made fresh coffee each time we visited reception on returning, one of our party didn't like the hot tea choice and next morning she produced a different tea which I am almost certain she provided herself - outstanding!
A little bit more than expected from an airport hotel.
