I was given the hotel number by the airline after they cancelled my flight. Driver arrived in an unmarked minivan. He was pleasant and helpful. On arrival, the place looked awful but as I was only staying one night I thought OK. The heat index outside was over 100 degrees but the reception and hallways had no AC.
The first room I stayed in had pubic hair in the sink and cookie crumbs and chip fragments on the bottom sheet as well as miscellaneous material on the floor. I complained and was immediately offered another room or I could check out.
The next room had material all over the floor. I said I had enough and would check out. The night desk attendant said he could put me in a suite. I accepted. We arrived at the suite. The floor was clean but it was hot and dark. One bedside lamp was not working and the AC in the living area was not working. It was about 85 degrees in there. I discovered that the light did not work because there was nothing to plug it into. All the outlets in the bedroom had receptacle covers over them except for the TV and the one bedside lamp and alarm clock.
In the bathroom we discovered long black hair in the waste bin and on the floor plus crumpled tissues in the bin. The bed was clean but who knows? The attendant who showed me the rooms was clearly upset.
Other interesting observations : the double doors from the bedroom to the living area had no handles on them so they could not be closed. This did not help with the AC situation. The coffee maker was supplied with enough coffee for one cup of regular or one cup of decaf ( for a king room). It was fitted with a 12" cord but there were no outlets on the counter so I had to put it on the floor.
Breakfast was included but I could not bear the thought of it so checked out early. Sorry to say the minivan driver had gone home with the keys. The front desk attendant took me to the airport in his own vehicle. By the way the same people operate the Red Roof Inn next door and incoming calls for both are answered at the front desk of the Quality Inn.
Nobody there has the authority to adjust rates or refund. If the owners read this - do the decent thing and give me my money back.
