“Overall, loved our stay there!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2011

What a beautiful location! Surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains, the view is fantastic!! Not to mention, it's only a minute from I-81, and within minutes of a plethora of restaurants!
The hotel itself - No complaints here about our room - no issues at all with the staff either - they were absolutely top-notch. My only complaints are that the breakfast left a lot to be desired, and although the rooms' A/C worked fine, there was little to no A/C in the hallways or the lounge. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and plan to a little bit later this summer.

Stayed here moving student in/out Roanoke College. Good location to school. Clean, practical, nice housekeeping staff. We will return multiple times next year.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on our way to and from Hershey, Pa. It was a nice midpoint stop during our trip. The hotel was very nice, and very near I-81 for an easy off and easy on experience. We stayed in two different rooms. Our first room (#302) had a large shower with a sit-down area. Our second room (#322) had a nice tub/shower combo. Both had a nice couch and king beds. The rooms were clean and neat.

Room Tip: Ask for a particular type room if you need it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2011

I stayed at this hotel with a colleague to attend a training at the nearby Roanoke County Courthouse. We booked this hotel about 4 hours before arriving. I felt the hotel was a little expensive at $90/night, but it was recommended by a friend as being very clean. When we arrived, the lady at the front desk demonstrated exceptional customer service. They have free cookies and she gladly told us about nearby restaurants that were good places to eat. The room was fantastic and large with plenty of outlets and a comfy workstation. The bathroom was really nice as well. The indoor hot tub and pool were nice amenities except the hot tub seemed overchlorinated. The beds were very nice and I slept very well both nights. Also the breakfast is continental, but has a little more to offer like juice and waffles, and sausage/gravy with biscuits, and eggs and bacon. The little rubber duckies are a nice touch as well.
After coming back from a full day of training on the second day of our stay, our dirty towels from the day before were still on the floor, even though leaving your towels on the floor meant you wanted them to be replaced. Also, our beds looked as if the maid had simply pulled the comforter over the bed so she didn't have to make them. We called the front desk to complain and got a new lady, who I will call lady #2. Lady #2 did not seem at all sympathetic. Lady #2 did not show the professionalism of lady #1. She said they were short on towels and to come pick them up in 30 minutes from the front desk. I don't think I'm spoiled, but most places bring you the towels- it was midweek, the hotel was mostly empty and the building only has 3 floors. Lady #2 gave us very poor directions to the restaurant we were trying to go to that night as well. When we checked out the following morning, Lady #1 was back. She was very upset that we had problems the day before and asked if we wanted to speak with a manager. Unfortunately, we needed to get to our training and did not have time.

Overall, the hotel is a very clean and comfortable place to sleep if you need a place in the Roanoke area. Hopefully, you will be able to get it for less than $90/night.

Reserved the room for one night and indicated a late arrival. Arrived at 2am and room had not been cleaned since last guest left. Was told there was no other room available and front desk provided sheets and clean pillows. No offer of refund and they said I would need to take it up with Expedia.

The next morning, all food at the breakfast buffet had been eaten and nothing was left.

It was Thanksgiving weekend and they were extraordinarily busy. That said, I would most likely stay somewhere else next time if in the area.

The front desk person was nice and efficent on check in. We had two King Suites. The room was 78 degrees when we checked in turn the thermostat down to 72. An hour and a half later is was still only 75. We decided to walk next door for dinner hoping the room would cool off. When we returned it was 78 again and the unit was off. I called the desk and was told that was an Eco-friendly hotel, that the AC would only work if you were in the room. At 10 pm it was still quite warm. We discovered if you were in the sitting area the AC would turn off. During the night if the unit didnt since movement it would turn off. Woke up hot several times and waved my arm to get the ac to come back on. The toilet in both rooms rocked and the seat was loose. The shower barely had enough pressure or flow to get you wet. The breakfast area was cluttered and the so called omlettes must have been left over from earlier in the week. The bedding was inferior to what I have usually experience at a Comfort Suites. I hope this isn't becoming a trend with Choice. I have noticed cheaper ammenities at a couple of other locations

First, the guy at the front desk when we checked in was wonderful. Very helpful. Overall, this place was not as nice as other Comfort Suites though - although this hotel is new, corners seemed to be cut in a lot of ways. Watery shampoo, hallway was not air-conditioned at all past about 9:30 in the morning, watery juice and waffle batter, not enough help to take care of breakfast area. Writing this, they seem like minor things, but they were noticeable after visiting other Choice Hotels and they add up.
