“Housekeeping and maintenance issues”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

I checked into this hotel late at night while traveling. While I didn't expect a five-star hotel, I expected a clean, comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the room had a number of problems. If I hadn't been exhausted, I would have asked to change rooms.

First, the positives (the reasons this hotel gets two stars instead of one). The front desk staff was both nice and helpful. The room was extremely quiet. The room had a comfortable temperature and the cooling unit was not loud. The wireless internet worked very well and the television offered tons of channels.

Now, the negatives.

The room was poorly maintained. The lamp by the bedside table was broken and all the furniture was nicked, scratched and damaged. The bed was truly terrible. When I sat on it, I could both hear and feel the springs. It was obviously an extremely cheap mattress. I tried the other bed -- same problem. The bedding was also cheap and scratchy, and the pillows were tiny. The carpet was old, dirty and fraying. The bathroom faucet dripped constantly.

This hotel also has some pretty serious housekeeping problems. There was garbage on the floor behind the trash can, and food crumbs on the floor. The room was also incredibly dusty -- so much so you could see it on the carpet in the corners and along the walls. The coffee area had dried coffee around and under the coffee pot, and it was clear the pot had been emptied but not cleaned.

The bathroom was ridiculous. The staff had placed toilet paper in the room, but not on the roll. The tissue dispenser was also empty. The vent in the room was covered in dirt. The next morning, when I turned on the water to take a shower, hair floated up from the drain. There was also this weird yellow goopy looking stuff on the ceiling above the bathtub, and something sticky on the wall next to the toilet.

This room, with taxes, was more than $95 even with the AAA discount. Go to the Hampton Inn across the street. I haven't stayed there, but it couldn't possibly be this disgusting.

This hotel has had a recent cover up makeover that is ok but would be much better if the rooms were cleaner. Pet hair, broken glass and lot"s of dust were the big issues.

I stayed there for a short business trip at the beginning of March. My room was very nice. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was pretty quiet. The only thing that wasn't great was that the room was right behind the elevator so I was able to hear it all night. BUT it wasn't that bad. It didn't keep me awake or anything. The front desk people were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was good both mornings I tried it. It's in a convenient location for food and shopping. I would definitely stay there again.

We've stayed here several times for 3-5 days each visit over the last 8 years. Early on there were some issues, a flood, renovations were occurring and we suspect that had something to do with quality. Current stay and no complaints, housekeeping very good, curteous staff, good free breakfast. Just make sure no sports team is staying here when you come, you'll never find a complementary cookie in the lobby when they're here!

Pre-stay: Quick and easy online reservation.

Arrival: I arrived at the hotel around 10:45pm. The clerk was friendly and quickly checked me in. There were also fresh, free cookies available.

Room: All rooms are non-smoking. I had a wheelchair accessible room which was close to the lobby. When you walk into the room, on the left is the sink and beyond that the toilet and shower. Everything was in order and clean. Past the sink area is a minibar area on the left and then the living room. The room is a semi-suite so you can see the bed from the living area and there is no door. The bed was comfortable, but nothing special. The TV wasn't working well or perhaps it is their cable service.

Breakfast: There is a complimentary continental breakfast from 6am - 10am. It was a good start to the day. They also have the news on a flat screen tv in the breakfast area.

Check out: Very quick.

This motel appears new. Our room had a king bed and a partially separated seating area with couch, microwave, small fridge, table with 2 chairs, great bathroom and room for our dog crate. The motel was exceptionally clean and seemed new. The bed was comfortable and the sheets didn't come undone. Halls and room entrances are indoors. There was room to eat, feed the dog and just relax. We are allergic to the perfumed cleaners and sprays used to make motel rooms seem "fresh" and we requested these not be used. This is the first motel that truly honored this request and the room was clean without perfume.

It is not located next to the interstate, but there is a Krogers supermarket next door and room to walk and run the dog. The free breakfast included egg and cheese "fold-overs", bacon, waffles, yogurt, etc.

This motel is excellent and made for a great overnight stop on our trip from Atlanta to NJ. My wife is very picky and had no negative comments - very unusual. We highly recommend this motel, which also has a pool and exercise room. Price was right, too.
