“Great atmosphere, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

When we visited Devil's Backbone, there was a bit of a wait but the wait was thoroughly worth it! We had two different burgers, and both of them were not your average burger, with innovative toppings, and extremely delicious.

“Great Brews, Exceptional food, Helpful staff and Fantastic scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

We journeyed to Devils Backbone Brewery (DB) with friends from Lynchburg on a recommendation. We are so glad that we did. The Craft brews were amazing and the food was exceptional. My wife and I both ordered the soup and salad combination for lunch. The Mushroom and Barley soup was great and the DB salad was unique and exceptional. I chose the Wintergreen Weiss on tap which was a very good Hefeweizen, but my wife chose the Vienna lager which we all agreed was an exceptional lager. We enjoyed it so much we bought a case to take back to Florida with us. This experience was was of the best that we've had at a BrewPub and it was made even better by our wonderful sever, Tara. She was a gem. She knew all of the beers, spoke about them with enthusiasm and expertise. We will definitely return everytime we're even a little close to the area.

“Excellent Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Just a few minutes off of the Blue Ridge Parkway at the base of the mountain in No where, Virginia sits a hidden treasure of food and drink. The grounds are large and spacious from the entrance with large stone columns to the outside amphitheater. The building itself is beautiful from the outside and has a rustic lodge feel on the inside. We sat outside on the patio next to our friends Red and Brutus two friendly dogs who frequent the property and to be honest could careless that we were even there until we called them over to say "Hi". The drink menu was large and had something for everyone. The draft beer was cold and crisp, we filled a growler to take home. The food was absolutely amazing. The garlic herb chicken had crispy outer skin and fell right off the bone. The mashed potatoes melted in your mouth. No pre made frozen food here. It was all home cooked and fresh. The flavor spoke for it self. We will, without a doubt be back! Sooner than later I hope

“Worth the drive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We stopped in on Labor Day while driving home from VA Beach. The restaurant is large, with multiple outdoor seating areas, but it was hot so we opted to sit inside. The menu has a lof of options for meateaters and veggie alike...and portions were very large. I had the caprese salad and crabcake appetizers. The crabcake was advertised as 4 ounces served over corn salsa and fried green tomatoes. 4 ounces...whatever!!! Easily 8 ounces, and 5 inches across. And quite yummy. THe tomatoes were over battered, but still very good. My husband had the meat platter..maybe called th ebonebreaker or something? And he paid extra for pulled pork to be added. I thought the servings on his meat were a little skimpy for 28$, but he was satisfied. My mom had fish and chips....delicious!! And I htink she had 5 pieces of fish so whoever said the portions on that were skimpy was definitely mistaken. OH...the beer!! My husband is already a fan ,but he was disappointed that several seasonals were unavailable...but it was the end of a busy holiday weekend so we weren't really surprised. Overall a great place to visit and we would recommend it.
