Our family holiday from the UK took us to New York then Washington and onto to Roanoke via the Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway. We were so enjoying the mountain views and wildlife we arrived later than planned at Rose Hill but this did not worry Wendy as we were greeted warmly and shown to the kitchen where a huge plate of homemade cookies was ready. We stayed in the Garbo room, beautifully designed and so comfortable and our boys shared the big bed complete with steps in the Peacock room which they found amusing. The bathrooms were quite amazing. Iced water and chocolate cakes awaited us here. A movie or two and popcorn was offered along with books from the library even though by then it was getting late. Having slept very well we ventured downstairs carefully on the beautifully polished wooden floors to the dining room for our breakfast to find it laid as if we were royalty. We then preceded to enjoy an 3 course gourmet breakfast consisting of foods we had never thought of for breakfast and really enjoying them. My son loved the tea selection and enjoyed several different cups. We wanted to enjoy the veranda and the park opposite but we had to hit the road as had many more places to visit before flying home from Miami. We loved Rose Hill and will remember it well and may be back again some day. We also loved America and the hospitality we received everywhere we went.
