I had read some good reviews about Montanos and my wife was really keen to try it. We drove hungry for an hour and when we arrived it looked quite impressive. The menu was a real smorgasboard with way too many choices; they must have had 20 chefs back there. As an expatriot Brit I always try Fish and Chips as a benchmark item, if that's good, usually everything else is too. To start with we sat at the bar where 4 other people were eating. We didn't see a server or bar tender for about 5 minutes. When she eventually turned up we were ignored for about another 5 minutes. My wife finally got to order a beer and I ordered a dirty Martini. So far so good. I asked if I could get some bread and butter with my food. My wife ordered an oyster Po boy sandwich. Five minutes later I was delivered a bread basket with a chunk of half cut through toasted bread with with melted butter and two plastic tubs of cocktail sauce. Not exactly what I wanted, not what I ordered. When the meal came I had a peice of battered cod and some overcooked overspiced potato wedges, a peice of curly green kale, a plastic tub of cole slaw, two large cartons of ketchup sitting on my food. The fish had absolutely no taste or flavor and was probably not fresh but frozen. The potato wedges were soggy and just stone cold. My wife said she was also disapointed with the sandwich and the oysters were small, crispy and tastless. I ordered another Martini. This one was only half full and delivered by someone who looked like he didn't want to be there. Not a place I would recommend.
All in all, the restaurant menu was too diverse, one or two signature items prepared well would have impressed me a lot more.
