Not a grand old lady I am afraid
My heart started to sink when the guest in front of me was told that his pre-paid booking for a double bed could not be honoured because the hotel had two large weddings and he would have to accept a room with two single beds.
My turn resutled in a small room on the fifth floor - in effect in the attic. This was the result of much time spent by the Receptionist trying to find a room for the whole of our stay - again we had prepaid os I do not understand why it was a struggle to find the room we had paid for and was presumably "set aside" within the system.. The window in the room was a small dormer style with a table in front of it. Result - a dark room and a real struggle to reach across the table to close the curtain.
The Executive Lounge was to date the worst at any Hilton we have stayed in. I am pretty sure it was simplly a converted bedroom. Just about enough room for three circular tables and 9 chairs plus a sofa. Small quantiity of poor quality breakfast items and one morning no coffee because the machine had broken.
The melee outside the restaurant on Sunday morning for breakfast was sad to see "the girl has said there is a table for 4 if we go now - but we have to get in there straight away or she will give it to another group"
Outside pool and fitness area was fine and most public rooms seemed OK
