I only stay at this hotel when in Roanoke, VA. Great place! Great rooms, nice and new fitness center! Treated well as a HHonors member! Would highly recommend!

Close to downtown Roanoke! Within walking distance to all the bars/restaurants.

We love to stay at historic hotels. This one did not disappoint. The exterior and public areas are beautiful. Our room was small but it was expected since we were trying to save money and chose the least expensive. The bed and pillows are wonderful! We had the breakfast buffet in the morning and it was very good. There was plenty to eat but no pancakes or waffles. We enjoyed our stay. (self parking was $7.00 and breakfast was $14.50)

Very well-run landmark hotel with friendly, courteous, helpful and highly competent staff. All employees I met greeted me with a smile and went out of their way to help. My room, with an excellent view of downtown Roanoke and Mill Mountain, was tastefully appointed and very clean. Towels and glasses, however, were located in places where I had to look to find them. The famous Regency Room was closed for renovation, but since I had a dinner reservation at a downtown restaurant, that was not an inconvenience. Room service breakfast, which I ordered for 9am, arrived in a timely manner and was good though not outstanding. The waiter was very friendly and professional. Elegant, old-fashioned lobby adds considerably to the hotel's ambience. I have a few very small quibbles. Some amenities expected in a hotel of this sort, like complimentary bathrobes in the room, were missing. Also, if there was a concierge, I did not see one. There was not literature in the room listing the hotel's services and amenities and how to obtain them. A loud and foul-mouthed guest walking by in the hallway was unpleasant to listen to. Finally, the TV remote was difficult to figure out. I had to call the front desk to ask to send someone up to show me how to work it. This was done with the usual smile and efficiency. But these are minor complaints and do not detract from what overall was an outstanding hotel experience at surprisingly good value.

You will feel as though you are living in the grand old years gone by when you stand in this lobby. This hotel is an experience rather than just a stay. As everything today is built so efficiently and generic, it is wonderful that Hilton has invested in this gem. Support their effort by staying here. You'll be glad you did.
