I was visiting Roanoke last week and had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Roanoke. I just needed a hotel close to the airport with a shuttle, but I got far more than that! The property is lovely and well-managed. It has far more amenities than expected including doormen, beautiful and tasteful decor, an excellent restaurant, a functional business center and much more.
The room I stayed in (427) reminded me more of a Ritz-Carlton room than a DoubleTree. Well-appointed, updated and REALLY nice. Bedding was very good quality and comfortable, towels were plush, automatic light illuminated when you opened the armoire, and room service was prompt. Room was quite comfortable and quiet.
Breakfast was included. I was quite surprised to see a formal dining room with many well-dressed servers, an omelet center, a station presenting Danishes, bagels, nutbreads, juices, melons, strawberries, pineapple and smoked salmon. The hot table included scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, bacon, sausage links and breakfast potatoes. A menu was also available. The servers kept the juice glass filled with freshly squeezed orange juice. Coffee was excellent. Obviously I was amazed at the inclusion of breakfast with my room, but even if one was to purchase the breakfast buffet I believe it was only $14.95.
I ended my visit with a stop at the business center, and was able to print a few documents and my boarding pass. Computers were fast and the space was comfortable. The complimentary shuttle took about 15 minutes to the airport. Front desk staff was helpful, courteous and professional. I would absolutely stay here again when visiting the area.
