This houses several museums and exhibits well worth the time and money to see. The aquariums alone are fun. Don't miss the Butterfly Garden if you do not want to see the science museum. The history museum was very informative and had some good remnants from the valley.

“Nice place to see different things”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

This is new built center which I like the decorations and layout of inside .I will suggest everybody should try to go there if you will pass across downtown Roanoke. I took my company there when they visit me , and they enjoyed to go up to the roof of the center where you can view some sightseeing.

“A fun quaint place”

They were having a festival at this time which was a lot of fun. The shops here are really cute. We stopped at a deli to get a sandwich, which was awesome. Loved this place.

“Serene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

Awe!! This is a cute little shopping area with cute little shops.
Fresh flowers, veggies and of course small restaurants to dine inside or outdoors.
Wish every town had something like this.
But they all close shop at 7 pm.

“After a major refurbish, CITS is open and ready for you!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

I am originally from Roanoke (though I now live in NC). When Center in the Square opened in the 1980s, it brought a major cultural boost to downtown. After a major refurbish over the past couple of years, it's now open for a new generation of locals and tourists, and has helped create a true destination feel in downtown Roanoke.

The new CITS features museums (art, history, science) the Mill Mountain Theatre, and new attractions including aquarium features that will make adults feel like kids again, and a gorgeous butterfly garden and outdoor observatory on the roof. The roof top view (FREE! - take the elevator to the top floor and enjoy) is worth the trip alone - gorgeous mountain and skyline views are a photographers dream.
