A must-see in Roanoke. On a clear day, the view is forever and awesome. Go back at night to see the city lights.
We went up at night and it was cold, but a very nice view of the city and you get great pictures of the city and the star
If you come to Roanoke, you wasted your trip if you don't make the drive up to see the Star. The view in incredible and at night it's absolutely magical. Be sure to get there before 11PM though...that's when it closes. Also, lots of good trails around there if you want to take a stroll, hike, run through the woods.
We enjoyed the wonderful views of the city and the surrounding mountains. It was quite a popular place on a beautiful autumn afternoon.
Few miles up the mountain...good view of Roanoke. Good plaque on the history of the star....the zoo is also at the top of the mountain where the star is.
