“Pricey but fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2015

$62 for a family of four including the butterfly garden.
The butterflies were the highlight. Many varieties and one landed on us and would not leave. Outside of the butterfly garden is the "nursery" where all the chrysalis and newly hatched butterflies are. The place spend $1000 per week on the chrysalises.
The rest of the museum is basic and small, but I am glad we went. Over all our family had a very nice time here. We were here for about three hours.

“Small museum with some interesting exhibits”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2015

The butterfly exhibit was very pretty. The museum itself is fairly small. They had some nice interactive exhibits. There is a small room for children that allows the kids to "dig for fossils". I saw the King Tut exhibit that had a number of replicas of the original artifacts. There was an exhibit on dental health. The aquarium on the first floor and the roof garden were very pretty.

“TOO Expensive!!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2015

I am sorry but I attended "Raptures" and was VERY disappointed. After buying the ticket for the show, I then had to purchase another ticket to get in the museum. The "family" that sat beside me, had several children, one who talked and moved around during the entire program. The father talked and played with him. The mother breastfed one of the children during the program.

I tried to talk to someone after the program and he said "Sorry" and walked off. I then saw him outside talking and laughing with this family. I then saw something interesting on another floor and was told I would have to purchase ANOTHER ticket see this!!!!

I am sorry but Roanoke is NOT Washington, DC!!!

“Fun for the family!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2015

Went with 11 total (5 adults and 6 kids ranging from 3 - 11 years old). Had a great time, with plenty of fun activities and sights for everyone! Very clean facilities, with nice bathrooms available. Didn't spend the extra for the Butterfly Garden, you can save about $4 a person by skipping this exhibit. You can look inside the garden through a glass wall, you just can't enter. Looked nice, but for my crew not worth the extra money!
