“maximum relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

My wife and I stayed overnight as a getaway and it was the most relaxing 2 days we've had in years. The sky view room was awesome and totally quiet, peaceful, and private. Ron had coffee and tea waiting for us in the morning and breakfast on the covered porch was fantastic.
The restoration work done on this home was amazing.

Room Tip: sky view room has private bathroom and sitting area

One of the best renovations we've seen, every room was beautifully restored and decorated. The inn itself is easy to find, although the parking can be difficult to spot (it's behind the property), depending on which way you come into town. We were made extremely welcome and wanted for nothing. Our room was stunning and had everything you could want. Only a few minutes walk from the centre of town, the Black Lantern Inn is very well located. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone visiting Roanoke.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely.

We loved our stay at the Black Lantern! Ron is a wonderful innkeeper, he has turned a great old house into a beautiful inn. We loved hearing his stories about the renovation. WONDERFUL breakfast too!
We will definitely return to stay with Ron in the future.

This gem of a place is tucked away, but online photos and great directions made it easy to find.

Rooms are tastefully and impeccably appointed. Accessories are unique and obviously chosen with great care and a good eye. No detail is spared. From window treatments and art on the walls (quite an interesting collection) to plated breakfasts and homemade cookies, the Black Lantern Inn is a feast both for the eyes and the palate.

Ron is a great host, chef, and ambassador for what to see and do as well as where to dine in Roanoke. A good conversationalist, too!

Highly recommended.

Ron and Claire did an amazing job renovating this old home. We had a very comfortable stay here, and Ron was an excellent, very friendly host. If we ever stay at a Roanoke B&B again in the future, we will definitely be choosing this place.

The Skyline room was so beautiful and relaxing! My husband and I find that many B&B's and restaurants serve breakfast that is just average, but Ron's was delicious! We will definitely stay here again if our travels take us to Roanoke.

I live in Roanoke, so I don't get the luxury of staying in our B&B's, but when it came time to find a place for my bridal party to stay I knew it would be at the Black Lantern. Ron was a perfect host, making us an exquisite breakfast each morning, and allowing us to crank the stereo and rock out to whatever we wanted. It's in a perfect location, is incredibly clean and stylish, and just the best place to stay in this fun city. I will recommend this place again and again- especially to those alternative brides who are looking for something different.
