“Good stopover after long drive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

After driving up from Charlotte we were ready for a good sleep. Late check in was good, included cookies! Room 127 was clean, very comfy bed. His and hers sinks, nice touch.
Excercise room had what I needed.
Thin walls, but that seems to be the norm in USA.
Best breakfast by far of any of the hotels so far on our trip (7 so far).
Would stay again.

We had just gotten off the Interstate outside of Roanoke & to be honest, we were heading to the Fairfield Inn. I was surprised to be told that they were all sold out for the night. One of the folks on duty told me that the Country Inn down the road was a nice property and perhaps I could get a room there.
I really appreciate the advice!
The Country Inn was much, much nicer than I could've hoped for.
The property looks very new and is in terrific shape. The decor right from the start in the main lobby is very attractive. The lobby also has a very comfortable seating area/lounge and actually has a nicely stocked bookcase with bestsellers of various sorts. These are available to guests and the policy is that you may return them to any Country Inn hotel. Also had electronic media for loan to guests.
The young lady Manager on duty, Dominique, was absolutely terrific! If there's any justice, this woman should move up in the company or get her own hotel!
We were met with a very friendly and welcoming demeanor and when she was checking room availability & rates she made sure to ask if we had any club affiliations offering discounts. When she noticed my ID and asked about my employment, she gave me the government rate.
Many properties used to offer gov't rates but in recent years many will only honor your ID if you work for that particular state. Obviously travelers will often be from out of state. OK, this might not mean much to most folks reading TripAdvisor reviews, but it goes to the heart of the professional courtesy we were extended at this hotel.

We were offered a room that would be more convenient for unloading our luggage and also apprised of the fact that the breakfast room is right adjacent to the main lobby. There's a nice hot complimentary breakfast included with your stay.

The hotel is so nicely built & decorated with lots of cherry wood mouldings and door frames, spotlessly clean & fresh carpets and a beautiful indoor pool as well as a whirlpool hot tub. There's a lounge area adjacent to the pool where you can take some sun and relax with a good book on a chaise.

Our room was beautifully decorated and more spacious than one commonly finds these days. The bathroom was modern and outfitted with luxury trimmings and fixtures.
Our bedroom was airy and fresh with none of that artificial scent.
The beds were some of the most comfortable we ever slept in. They had also provided different density pillows so you can choose firmer or softer to suit your desires.

The breakfast we had in the morning was again a cut above the usual hotel fare. The room & tables are comfortable and not at all crowded. You can choose from the simplest coffee and a croissant, hot or cold cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, breakfast meats, and too many more things to mention. A very good deal indeed!

Overall, I'd say that during our road trip up & down the East Coast the Country Inn & Suites by Carlson in Roanoke was one of the best hotels we found. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Honestly wouldn't even consider another hotel in the area.

The Country Inn & Suites of Roanoke is our favorite stop during the summer baseball season. This hotel has great staff, clean rooms and a big indoor pool which our bunch of 12 year old ballplayers just love. It is located about a half a mile off of interstate 81. Once again, our check-in was quick and correct. Our group rate was $90 per night plus taxes. The room was ready and clean. We booked a 2 queen bed room (room 116) and everything was just right. The breakfast Saturday morning had just about anything you could want from a hotel breakfast. Checkout was a breeze.

We stay in so many hotels during the baseball, softball summer season that we really appreciate when one of them is as nice as this one. It isn't upscale or elegant, so if that's what you need then look somewhere else but if you want clean, polite and comfortable this is a sure thing. We will be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 116. It's located at the opposite end of the hotel from the pool and there are...

I always look for this brand of hotel first because I am a Club Carlson member and I have never had a bad experience at this hotel. Once again, I was very pleased. We were on our way to Pennsylvania and this was just about halfway. This hotel is newly remodeled, very quiet as well as impeccably clean. It is just off I-81. The front desk staff is very pleasant and helpful, as is usual for Country Inn and Suites.
There were a few things that really stood out about this location. First, there were plenty of rolling luggage racks. We often arrive late at night and never have difficulty when we check in, but often find when we check out in the morning, it's a different story. Not so this time! Even when we checked out the following morning, there were enough to accommodate everyone.
We had a very spacious room. We especially liked having two sinks--one in the bathroom and one outside, so that if anyone just needed the sink, he/she didn't have to wait. The bed was very comfortable and I especially liked the fact that we could open the room's windows. (Although it wasn't easy.)
My favorite part was the complimentary breakfast, which was excellent. What I liked most ,however, was that all the items were clearly marked and the intended utensils were conveniently placed with little signs near them saying things like "wooden tongs for toaster," "spoon for eggs." I had never seen this before ANYWHERE and it was incredibly helpful.
Country Inn and Suites says that it is updating its logo and its style in the coming months. I hope they don't change things too much, because I like it just fine right now!

As a concierge elite I see many of these hotels.....some great...some not so great. This hotel is a fine example of great management. The gals at the desk are very pleasant and care about their jobs and clients.... Great job team

Excellent location and the late night staff was just top notch. Picked this location as a stopping point on our way home to Northern Virginia. Great decision, as we were re-routed off of I-95, due to it being closed down for whatever reason and didn't arrive until late. The room was perfect and the hotel is in impeccable condition. Outstanding breakfast area will plenty of items to choose from. Nice flat panel TV, with coffee maker, microwave and mini frig in room. We would definitely stay at this Country Inn & Suites location if the timing was right.

This was the best place we stayed on our five-day vacation. It was very quiet, clean, and neat. The continental breakfast was okay. Probably would have been better if we had gotten there earlier, though. Overall, it was very nice.
