“Good for a short stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2011 via mobile

Great free breakfast! Free wi-fi! The room was clean, nothing fancy but comfortable. The only downside to this hotel is that there is not much around it...but would recommend if you just need a place to stay for the night on your road trip elsewhere. Good value for the price!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2011

It is an attractive hotel, with all of the amenities expected in it's genre.
But what I'm here to talk about is the service. It was excellent.

GM Eric Shina, his assistant Brandon Snuffer and clerk Ed Schubert were at the desk when I came in. They were all friendly and chatty and asked all the right questions and displayed senses of humor and a good knowledge of the hotel and its surroundings.

Their restaurant doesn't have room service, but, seeing that I am disabled, they gave me a restaurant menu and said I could just call the desk when I was ready, and they would see to it that my dinner would be brought to my room in a to-go box. Sure enough, 30 or so minutes after I ordered my dinner via Ed at the front desk, a smiling, chatty very nice Linda Bannister showwed up with my very tasty dinner. This is a great example of a hotel going above and beyond for guest service - and it was greatly appreciated.

We were impressed with the staff at check in, as they were very friendly and helpful. They even looked up directions for us! Then the next morning we were pleasantly surprised with the wonderful hot breakfast! It was truly the Best Breakfast of a 10 day trip!
The young lady who checked us out was also friendly and helpful!

I recently stayed at the Quality Inn and having stayed ther previously I was not expecting much. Was I surprised. All the rooms at the hotel have been redone with new carpeting, new furniture and new wallcoverings. The hot breakfast was very good with plenty to eat. Much more than expected. I inquired at the front desk and was told that a new management team was in place which explained the turnaround. The assisstant manager(Roxie) was very pleasant and extremely helpful. Next time in Roanoke or if you happen to be passing thru on Rt. 81 if you need a place to stay gine the quality Inn a try

Thank you for your comments and we are glad you found the work we have done so positive. We have completed the new carpet and furniture refinishing in all of the rooms. We are also installing new vanity lights and finishing up the resurfacing of our sidewalks. While all of these improvements will make our guests more comfortable, we still strive to exceed our guest's expectations in service and friendliness, knowing that this is what makes such a big difference and sets us apart from the competition. We hope you will look to us for any future visits to the Roanoke area, as it is nice to have a place you know when you are away from home.

I will not stay here again. The worst Choice property I have ever stayed at. Asked to speak to a manager and was told she went home. I pointed to the Manager on Duty sign which had a manager's name (Eric) and was told he was in his room and not available. Exterior very poorly maintained. Restaurant was dirty, took a long time for a greeting, server brought a dirty menu, I asked for an iced tea --- no iced tea or any other non carbonated beverages and I can not drink a carbonated beverage. Later, I went to vending area -- only machine was a soda machine which was out of order. Very limited selection for t.v. as well.

A large group of us stayed at this hotel during our class reunion, and I must say, it was horrible! When we opened our door, the smell of stale cigarette smoke hit us in the face, even though it was a non-smoking room. The bedding looked old and stunk and we found two stink bugs in the bathroom. Our room was in the back of the hotel and it felt unsafe being so far away from everyone in a crumbling building. Everything looked old and needed updating. The doors to the rooms are so thin that you hear every little sound outside. On check-out day, six of us from different rooms all woke up sick with head colds and sore throats, which we guess comes from the moldy smell in the nasty air conditioning units.

The biggest disappointment was the bar. The bartender did not know how to make even the simplest drinks! When it came down to it, she could serve straight shots of liquor or beers only, because she admitted she did not have any training at being a bartender. It was extremely disappointing as we were looking forward to a night out with drinks with friends.

The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is the front desk staff was polite.

I would recommend sleeping in your car before staying in this hotel.
