“Excellent Amenities and Location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014 via mobile

Sought a last minute room to stay after dropping our kids at camp. We had our dog with us and we're having a hard time finding a place that was not a dump. This hotel was wonderful. Indoor and outdoor pool. Great fitness room. Helpful staff and super clean. Highly recommend. All pet rooms were on the ground floor with patio access which was perfect for popping out for a quick walk. Rooms did not have any odor and the bedding was superb. Try the restaurant 347 too. Delicious. Plus offer free shuttle service.

I stayed at this hotel for one night in May. Left with a very favorable impression. Hotel had very nice common areas and the room was great. Being an SPG member, I was upgraded to a special room and received a nice breakfast for free. My only complaint would be that my 1st room at the hotel had an AC problem and when I asked to have my room fixed, the front desk initially tried to get me to stay in the room and have someone look at it. I repeated my request 2 times and then was given a room with working AC.

We should have stayed at the Comfort Inn, across the st, saved the few extra dollars, and at least we would have gotten a complimentary cup of coffee out of the whole deal. The rooms are small but nicely appointed, comfortable beds, clean and modern; however, it ends there for the usual traveler/guest. This establishment caters to Corporate America, and it's quite apparent in how they run this hotel. Firstly, they charged us a higher rate than advertised on the internet, no explanation, when we booked the hotel the day before. We got a standard room, no microwave (that is extra), missing bulbs in the lamps, clogged sink in the bathroom. When my husband and I arrived in the afternoon after a several hour drive, after finishing the two complimentary coffee pods each in the room, I went to the front desk asking where we could get two cups of coffee late on a Mon afternoon (nowhere else to go except driving distance, by the way)I was told Starbucks isn't open till the next morning. The gentleman couldn't offer to give me 2 extra pods? I am apalled at this behaviour. We left in search of a Dunkin Donuts. Front desk staff was quite cold and exceptionally uninviting. The next morning, I go to their Starbucks, wait several minutes for the one woman working there to show up , only to pay $7.00 for 2 cups of coffee. Afterall, this is Corporate America. I'm very much looking forward to leaving this cold place when the one and only upside to the whole experience was a kind employee named Xavier Fox, who offered to help with our bags, asked how our stay was, and stopped to chat with us. He was so sweet, I did not have the heart to tell him how awful I felt about the stay. Too bad for this hotel, the rest of their staff isn't as kind as Xavier

Room Tip: Go only if you are traveling on business and want the pools and fitness room, not suitable for famil...

Everything was perfect from the moment we stepped out of the car. Mr. Lafayette Fox was awesome throughout our stay. He helped us with our baggage and even provided us with champagne and wine glasses given that my guests and I were celebrating. The front desk was great as well-called us a cab, took time to take a picture of all of us (even moved the chair so we could have more space and a better photo) and friendly upon arrival and checkout. The maintenance man was Johnny-on-the-spot when our air wasn't blowing cold. It was fixed in a matter of moments. The room was very clean and the bathroom layout was great (sink and mirror separate from shower/toilet). The beds were comfortable as well. The pool area was nice. The breakfast in the morning was excellent! The servers in the café were exceptional. Omelette station was a bonus. Other choices were ample and good. Thank you to everyone at the Sheraton. This is the place to stay in Roanoke!!

On check in I thought the staff was cold and aloof. There was no warmth. There were two towers. Little bit of a distance to walk to tower B. The room was not large but adequate and clean. There were two pools - one indoor and one outdoor. There was a restaurant for breakfast and a market counter for quick options. There was Shula's 347 Grill attached to the hotel. The next day a new front desk staff was present and they were much more approachable, helpful and kind. Adequate parking available.

I realize that the best reviews aren't swayed by a tiny flaw like poor landscaping, but this experience was ruined by poor customer service. Traveling to DC and stopped here after midnight with two kids, one an infant. The night person could not have been nicer, getting me a good rate, reactivating some old rewards program I had, and generally being welcoming.
In the AM we needed to sterilize a couple of bottles. This just requires a simple microwave (not in room). We were sent from the front desk to the kitchen and back with indifference or rudeness. We finally just got on the road.
I can't recommend a place like that even though at least one employee is very nice.

We stayed overnight spontaneously while exploring the surrounding areas. After having to change Holiday Inns at midnight the night before due to a room snafu, the Sheraton was a nice surprise. As SPG members, we were placed on the top floor (SPG member floor) and found a recently and pleasantly renovated room and bathroom. We had dinner at Shula's 347 in the hotel, which was fine (the bar was out of a particular alcohol so some of the cocktails were not available and the food was fine), but there are better restaurants in Roanoke or Salem if you care to drive. The hotel is well equipped with a good-size gym, a good breakfast area, and more, all recently redone and modern. Incidentally, as we had no reservation and walked up to the front desk (we had checked online that rooms were available), we were quoted a higher price than on the SPG website. It was surprising that the hotel couldn't match their own online price, so we ended up putting the SPG app to good use and booked the room online while standing at the front desk. It took about 10 minutes for the reservation to show up in the hotel computer. We would definitively return.

Room Tip: We were in room 819, top floor, but next to the ice machine, which runs 24/7, and can be heard throu...
