“Girls weekend out!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

Wonderfully clean. The staff was very friendly. The indoor pool is a nice amenity after shopping all day. Close to Farmers Market in old town and the Taubaum Museum.

The beds were super comfy!

Dear Virginiatrish,
Thank you for taking the time to post on TripAdvisor concerning your stay here at the Sheraton. I am always pleased to hear when someone comments on how friendly the staff is. I also was happy to hear how much you enjoyed our indoor pool. For us, it's nice to have both an indoor and outdoor pool were one can decide depending on the weather. I hope that on your next trip through the Roanoke Valley, you will once again choose the Sheraton for your stay.
Sincerely,
Greg Hargrave

I have been staying here over the last year at least once a month and sometimes twice a month. Every time I arrive I feel like I am home!! Xavier the bellman/driver and all the front desk workers and managers are amazing!! They will do whatever it takes to meet our needs during our stay!! The rooms are extremely clean the whole complete hotel is well kept!! I have traveled all over the world, but I love to stay here!!

It's nice to read how this feels like home to you. This is something we work hard for each and everyday. And it's because of associates like Xavier, that makes this happen. Thank you for choosing the Sheraton as your home away from home, and I will be sure and pass along your kind comments to all.
Sincerely,
Greg Hargrave

I stayed at this hotel for the 2nd time, earlier this week. A very nice and comfortable hotel for my business trip and I'm sure would be great for a leasuire trip as well. My issue, and it's not with this hotel specifically but more the "higher" end hotels, is the internet charge. If Holiday Inn Express and the Hampton Inn can give you free wi-fi, do these hotels really need to charge that $10 a day?

The addition of the Shula steakhouse is great; saves a drive to the downtown.

Thank you for taking the time to post on TripAdvisor regarding your stay here at the Sheraton Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center. I was pleased to read that your overall stay was comfortable and that you feel Shula's was a nice addition to the hotel. As far as the internet costs are concerned, we do provide complimentary WiFi in our Link@Sheraton, which is in our lobby. And both Platinum and Gold members recieve complimentary WiFi in the guestrooms. I hope that on your next business trip to Roanoke, you will once again choose the Sheraton.
Sincerely,
Greg Hargrave

I stayed here 2xs this week, different days and different rooms. Both rooms the air would not go past 75f even if I turned temp down to 60-65f. There were sliding doors to balcony to open, however being a single woman, I did not want to leave that open at night. Also did not want to hear I-81 traffic. Plus the fan was LOUD...both days no hot water in the AM. The renovations are great, beds confortable, good service but when you pay almost $175 per night you expect everything to be in working order.

Dear HF,
Thank you for your candid response regarding your stay here at the Sheraton. We have repaired the Hot Water Boiler system since your visit, and are looking into the rooms you stayed in to address the HVAC. I was pleased however to hear the rest of your stay was a pleasant one. And I hope if your travels bring you back through the Roanoke Valley, you will once again stay here at the Sheraton.
Sincerely,
Greg Hargrave

I've stayed here twice while visiting family in the area. The hotel has obviously been recently updated and has the typical Starwood earth tones and wood decor. There's a serenity and peacefulness in the lobby area as well as in the other public spaces that's quite nice. Indeed, just going by looks, it gets a lot of things right. However once you stay in a room it becomes apparent there are a lot of things they got wrong. For instance, typically I find the beds in Starwood properties such as Sheratons or Westins to be some of the most comfortable of any major chain. Both times I've stayed here I've found the mattresses to be old and saggy. The pillows seem cheap and offer little support. They also fell short in one of the most basic things a hotel of this class should get right, having sheets that fit the bed. The fitted sheet was not the right size for the bed and during the night it kept coming off the mattress. Getting stuff like this wrong indicates to me a misguided emphasis on style over substance. They can afford a high-end Herman Miller chair in the room, but cheap out on the mattress and sheet?

Other little things that they don't have quite right is the ventilation. The ventilation system in the room is VERY LOUD. The bathrooms are quite small and don't offer much space for getting ready.

On the whole it's not a bad place to stay, it's location is convenient and the staff are friendly, but they have a way to go to be a great hotel.

Dear cptspalding,
Thank you for your candid view of your past experience here at the Sheraton Roanoke. You will be pleased to know, that we have purchased all new bedding for our hotel. This includes 300 tread count linen that fits properly and new pillows as well. As far as the beds go, we did in fact purchase all new Starwood Sweet Sleeper beds when we did our renovations. I am looking into why they have not held up and have become saggy as you stated in your post. I hope on your next visit to the Roanoke Valley, you will once again give us try, and see the new and improved product.
Sincerely,
Greg Hargrave
