“Older. Needs updating.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

This was your typical older Ramada Inn that's been repainted. The breakfast buffet was good enough with sausage gravy/biscuits & yogurt being the 'extras.' Beds were comfy & the rest of the room was par. Roanoke isn't that big of a town so I'd stay here again. Went to the very small but nice Mill Mountain Zoo there in Roanoke then drove the Blue Ridge Parkway from Roanoke to Fancy Gap, VA, stopping @ numerous scenic overlook areas. Would definitely recommend that!

We stayed here on recommendation from the tourist information centre given its cheap price ($45 per night). It was very old and had a strange smell, though the lady at the front desk was very pleasant so we gave it a go. The room was ok and 'on the surface' clean, but it was otherwise in bad shape with holes in the wall taped over etc. it had all you needed with tv, wifi, coffee machine, hair dryer etc and we thought it was ok, until we heard at 4am a police radio - it seemed to be that they were shutting down a very loud party somewhere on our floor. Not necessarily the hotels fault, but we didn't feel safe, got no sleep and were honestly pretty happy our car hadn't been stolen in the morning.

The motel room was very nice and the price was excellent. Lower cost than I would have expected. The front desk person was very nice and helpful.

The front desk staff at night and in the morning were both very cheerful and accommodating. Not what I usually find at what is rated 2 star. It is an obviously old motel with outside entrances and painted cinder block walls. It is run down and shows lack of money to repair all the bumps and dings. But the room was fresh and clean. I think the years of its use came thru from the heater that seemed to blow a bit of stale cigarette smoke smell. The breakfast was pretty complete with the usual waffle maker, warm scrambled eggs, donuts etc. I would guess not the higher priced food brands were used. Example, while the cereal was labeled Fruit Loops by Kellogg's, they tasted like they were probably an off brand. I'm not that knowledgable but I think the scrambled eggs were not from fresh eggs, maybe that is standard. They were palatable to my red neck taste buds. If you're frugal, it's a good place to overnight.
