we have two small children, 3 and 1, and this a good place to 'get your feet' wet with camping. we camped all over the US before settling down with kids. this was a our first camping trip with them. we booked a single site near the restroom. we arrive around 3:30pm and set up camp. the site we had was well maintained with a finely crushed gravel bed several inches thick. there was a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill grate. the restrooms were clean, had hot water and surprisingly had showers, something you don't see in national park campgrounds. about 20 yards behind our site was a hiking/mountain biking trail which i used to walk my son to get him to sleep.
in the park is a lake with fishing and paddle boats/canoes available for rent, several athletic fields, picnic tables galore and several pavilions and tents that could be reserved for events. there is also the water mine water park which i believe opens on memorial day.
