“Recently renovated older hotel ... nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

Older business hotels in outlying areas like these need tourism business to help stay afloat. If you don't want to deal with a throng of tourists, foreign or otherwise, staying in the same hotel as you, especially when you are near a city known for tourism, do not stay at a mid-level hotel such as this one. Pony up and go to Ritz-Carlton or at the least Westin.

According to Sheraton, this property was recently renovated; however, you can only do so much with an older property. Still, I think they could have done more. Nevertheless, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable but the bathroom is tiny compared to more modern hotels built to accommodate ADA specs. Outdoor pool is a nice feature lacking in newer business hotels.
Amenities at the business center could have been better. The buffet breakfast was nice but is very pricey if paying separately. Best deal is to get it as a package deal when making reservation. WIFI is not free but as a Sheraton SPG member, I was given free access as a perk. Sheraton/Westin's hotel points are worth more than the Marriott's system, meaning you can get free stays in a comparable hotel for less points.

Outdoor parking was plentiful with easy access. The hotel is in a residential area and has an awkward layout but that's the case with many other business hotels (adjacent Westin Reston, as well as Westin Herndon) in the area straddling residential neighborhoods.

The staff was courteous and professional, especially Teresa at front desk.
I would prefer to stay at other, newer hotels if I'm paying weekday rates, but for the weekend, I had a pleasant stay, getting a good deal w/ breakfast package.

If you have a car, there are plenty of good restaurants nearby to choose from:
Morton's, Mon Ami Gabi, Clyde's, Jackson's, and Uncle Julio's to name a few.

Stayed three nights. Hotel was fantastic!!!!
Spacious rooms!
Clean clean clean!
Very quiet great food!
Very relaxing.
Would definitely stay there again:)
We were with a youth tour group and the hotel was definitely set up to handle the large groups but without sacrificing the luxury feel of the hotel. It was a reasonably easy commute from DC!

I was upgraded to a large and nice suite, which I appreciated. The bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and competent.

However, compared to a visit last year, I had a few negative impressions of the hotel. The hotel seems to cater to tour groups, and there are often tour buses idling in the back or at the entry, incessantly rumbling as they wait for the group to assemble on board. Throngs in the lobby.

My room was nice, and smelled nice. However, the corridors smelled sour, like an assisted living facility. They need to replace hallway carpet or better ventilate the corridors to get rid of the smell.

The wall air conditioner directs a torrent of cold air at the desk. To work at the desk, you pretty much have to turn off the AC, and then turn it back on to sleep.

3 computers in the lobby are nice, but the printer was disabled, so it wasn't possible to print a boarding pass.

The Westin, a couple hundred yards away, is better for business travel. Smells better. No tour groups when I was there. Desk is protected from AC. Printer didn't work there, either!

Room Tip: Get a room in main tower to avoid long hike from "wing"

Dear Mr. Bowman,

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Sheraton Reston earlier this month. We value such feedback because it allows us to make future stays better.

I am happy to read that our front desk team was friendly and competent, and that our newly renovated rooms were comfortable. I will talk to our housekeeping department about the smell in the hallways.

Thank you for the feedback,

We stayed here two nights for a wedding. The accommodations are what you would expect. As others have mentioned, paying for WiFi is a bore, but I had no problems with the service. Hotel was clean and quiet. Obviously an older building that need a bit of updating, but nothing too terrible. We had breakfast in their restaurant and it was standard as well. Nothing to really complain about, but nothing that blew us away either. Suitable stay for the price and hotel category. I would return again if in the area and on a budget.

Since the Sheraton Crystal City (Arlington, VA) closed in April of this year we were looking for an alternate Sheraton to stay in for the Memorial Day Weekend. We stay in Sheratons as they are pet friendly and we take our Pug Vince with us when traveling.

All of the properties in Arlington, Alexandria and Tyson's Corner VA were either booked up or the rooms left were out of our price range. We looked further out past Tyson's Corner towards Dulles area (Herndon and Reston) and found this property and the Sheraton in Herndon. By the time we decided to make a weekend trip for Memorial Day the Sheraton in Herndon was booked up so we booked this property in Reston, VA.

The Reston Sheraton was a fantastic property and was a bit more upscale than the one in Herndon but the price was right so we booked it. We had never been past the Tyson's Corner area of Northern VA so we weren't familiar with the area. The map we used from MapQuest was not very specific and we will never use them again. It took us via the Dulles Toll road to Reston and because we didn't have an EZ Pass we had to wait 20 + minutes to pay the toll in cash. Once getting off the exit the MapQuest gave us, it basically plopped us in a general area and was not specific to where the hotel was. After driving around a bit we couldn't find Sunrise Valley Drive so we called the hotel.

Maria at the Front Desk answered and determined from where we stopped to call and told us how to get to the property from there. We were only minutes away but because we weren't familiar with the area we got lost. Once there, Maria checked us in quickly and got us squared away and we got settled.

Later we went to the Cosmopolitan Lounge for cocktails and something to eat, their Cheeseburgers are fantastic as are the Gin & Tonics we had and our bartender was great!

Our room was great and we enjoyed our stay. Maria had given us vouchers for two breakfast buffet meals so we used them on Sunday morning. The Syrah restaurant was nice and the service and food were fantastic. The only downside was there was a family reunion at the hotel and they were having their Sunday Service and Breakfast in the restaurant. It was disconcerting to hear loud singing and clapping while trying to have a nice, quiet breakfast. All would have been better served if that function had been held in a meeting or banquet room like the rest of their functions. Not sure why the breakfast service was held in half of the restaurant and not in a meeting or banquet room like they did with their dinner the night before.

Other than that we had a delightful stay in a different place other than Crystal City and it was a nice change of scenery. We will go back again. There is a Metro Stop close by and Reston Town Center is close too with plenty of places to eat and shop.

By the way, the Sheraton Crystal City is undergoing renovations to become the Westin Crystal City and is scheduled to open August of 2014.

We recently stayed at the Sheraton Hotel for a wedding. The front desk staff were the most friendly I have ever experienced. The rooms were very nice and clean. The fitness center was wonderful. The banquet staff went out of their way to make the wedding reception the best it could be. We loved the Syrah Restaurant staff and food as well. The food was wonderful. We would highly recommend the hotel and restaurant.

This was a business trip and everything went perfectly! The hotel managed the rooms very efficienlty and the catering service was fantastic! I cannot recommend a hotel more highly than this! There were very small issues with the rooms that were addressed quickly and resolved. All was good! Be sure to check out the lounge on the 2nd floor for a relaxing atmosphere.

Room Tip: No spa here, but great for business travelers. Highly recommended!
