We did white water rafting on Shenandoah on 8/24/2014 and zip line on 8/25/2014. White water rafting was incredible, very relaxing. Zip line was very exciting and fun. All the instructors were very knowledgeable, friendly.and helpful. Front office personnel were very friendly and helpful. I would do these activities with them.

“Segways and white water rafting are experiences not to be missed at this centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2014

For experiences not to be forgotten make sure you book the off road segways ( we booked these via Amazon and saved over 50%) and white water rafting (via Groupon saving nearly 50%).
Through luck and the sheer persistance of Torin our original Segway dates were amended and we all managed to enjoy our exhilarating adventures without the extreme downpour that occurred whilst we were visiting Harpers Ferry last week.
The training which Willie gave us to ensure we could handle the off road segways was very professional but still enjoyable and all of us ...including my very nervous wife were able to become accustomed to the turtle mode the segways were initially programmed for. It was only once we could all handle these ( including the first ever crash through the barrier by me) that Willie took us on the route around the Adventure Centre grounds in advanced mode. The views were breathtaking and the segways exhilarating . Bravo Willie !!
The following day my kids and myself had the luck to be allocated Cowboy on the white water rafting trip down the Pontomac River. The weather had cleared and all 10 rafts mosied down the rapids . Although it was high summer one or two of the rapids were a 3 although most were probably 2 .....high enough for us first timers.
We had been given a safety talk at the start and this proved very helpful for me as unfortunately I missed a sharp turn and ended up in the River after 45 minutes. Nose and toes to the sky ( I remembered) and was quickly hauled back into the raft ...a few bruises more to my ego than my body to continue down the river.
Our initial concerns over Cowboy very soon disappeared as our guide quickly emerged as the most experienced guide of the group with the strength of an ox with the charm of a prince.
Harpers Ferry Adventure Centre take pride in all of their staff and all who we had the fortune to meet were exceptionally professional, knowledge , helpful and accommodating. The lead water rafter even leant my daughter a fleece jumper to ensure she stayed warm on the trip! Thank you .

“great experience. ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2014

we went white water rafting on a thursday morning late august. check in was a breeze. Terry gave a upbeat overview/safety briefing for the trip. Veronica was our guide. very easy going. made us feel very welcome and comfortable. there were 4 rafts on our particular trip but each raft was free to go at there own pace as long as we could see the other rafts. we would definately go back again.
