If you are ever driving through Western Virginia and want to stop for some fun sledding, or if you live in the Washington, D.C. area and want to get out to sled without the cost of a chair lift - Franklin Park is your answer. Set within the hills of Western Loudoun, Franklin Park boasts hills of all levels perfect for a family outing of sledding. Along with sledding there are plenty of nature trails you can walk. If you have now shoes and want to play a round of Disc Golf - there is a great course which surrounds all the outdoor facilities.
We went sledding on Christmas night - under the moon light and it was so great. They kept the gates open just a bit longer for us - so we could take advantage of the perfect conditions. During the day time we hit the "big" hill and then walked a few of the trails. Such a fun place in the winter time and it's all FREE. A pet friendly park - bring you dog on leash and let them enjoy it as well.
At the hill top are facilities as well as a location to warm up if you need.
