“Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We have been in Mathews County VA many times and on the occasion of our granddaughters high school graduation, we stayed an the Inn at Tabbs Creek. The accommodations, the owners and the location were all wonderful. Our only regret was that we were so busy with family events that we did not have all the time we wanted to enjoy this beautiful place. Although we have family living in the immediate area, I will be looking for excuses to stay at the Inn again.

Just returned from a weekend at the Inn. Beautiful property. A great place to relax and recharge. Loved the kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Greg and Lori are fabulous hosts. Be sure you don't miss breakfast. Can't wait to get back!

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite, which was perfect for our small group of friends.

Thank you so much for your kind review and it was so nice to see you again! We really enjoy getting people out on the water to see more of the wildlife and history of the bay be it by kayak, SUP board and boat. We especially love to give Stand Up Paddleboard lessons and show people how fun and easy it is...we were hooked after our first lesson 4 years ago. Thanks again, and looking forward to seeing you guys again.
All the Best!

We have just spent a few days at the Inn at Tabbs Creek and we absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Chesapeake suite which was beautifully appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a fantastic Jacuzzi bath in the bedroom. We had a sitting room too and it was immaculate, as was the rest of the place. You get free run of the main house where coffee and tea is always available. They have a great library and TV room which you can use at any time. The owners too are so friendly and very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We booked for my birthday and my husband had asked them to put flowers and chocolates in our suite and they excelled themselves he was so pleased with what they did. The location is fantastic, you can sit on the dock in the evening sipping wine and just taking in the beautiful scenery. They are boat trips if you can drag yourself away and the use of kayaks and canoes but overall for us it was the peace to be able to completely relax. We loved it and we will return.

Room Tip: I had a peek at all the beautiful rooms but I preferred the one we were in, the Chesapeake suite, la...

Green Features: They were excellent at this. There was the opportunity to recycle, vegetables and fruit come from their own garden.

The Inn at Tabb's Creek was such a delightful getaway and just what a stressed out couple needed to unwind. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms were immaculate. We stayed in the Tabbs Creek Room and enjoyed the subtle nautical flair of the decor. I peeked into all the rooms at check in and each was decorated beautifully and very clean. We particularly enjoyed fishing and watching the sunset from the adirondack chairs on the dock. We thought it was a great touch that all the rods and tackle you could need were available for guest use. We stopped at the grocery store before arriving and enjoyed a picnic dinner on the lovely screened porch. We were so relaxed, we didn't want to leave for our entire stay! Breakfast was wonderful and filled us up all day. The owners, Greg and Lori, were very hospitable and accommodating without being intrusive to their guests' privacy. We had such a wonderful time and we are sure to be back soon!

Thanks so much for your kind review, and it was great to meet you both as well. We try to provide a laid back and relaxed atmosphere, and are glad that you enjoyed your stay. You will need to come back and do some night fishing as the fish around the underwater fish light have been getting bigger by the day!
All the best,

Lori

Recently stayed at the Inn for the annual Matthews bike tour. We have stayed here 6 times over the last 4 years and it keeps getting better. The food choices are always excellent with local produce, much from their garden on the property. This year the highlights were oysters from the creek that Greg pulled out at 5 PM and we had with our happy hour at 6 PM. Can't get much fresher than that. Another highlight was fresh strawberries from their garden.
The rooms are spacious and clean with modern bathrooms. Lori and Greg are super hosts with the latest info on new restaurants and happenings in Matthew. We originally chose the Inn at Tabbs Creek for its location on the water and its convenience for the bike tour. Now we return for the great breakfasts that Greg cooks up and the friendly atmosphere that Lori and Greg create.

Room Tip: We like the rooms in the main house. All are on the second floor and have good views of the grounds...

Green Features: There is a large garden on the property which provides fresh produce. I know that they also compost and minimize water usage.

Lori and Greg are wonderful hosts....making you feel right at home in an amazing accomandations on the water..As retired military, I was overly impressed with the "attention to detail" and cleaniness in every area of the Inn during our stay....Both always had time to have quality conversation which included history of there home/Mathew's County and activities available to the guests....Many outdoor activities are made available with bicycles, canoe, kayaks, horse shoes, bocce and firepit on the property...According to Lori and Greg, the Inn will soon offer tours to areas on the water to include several historic lighthouses using a beautiful newly renovated boat..The breakfasts are prepared by Chef Greg which provided quality and quanity alike...Life is good at the Inn, Tabbs Creek and especially with a glass of wine sitting in a chair on the dock while watching the sunset...I would return anytime for a "wonderful getaway" with casual elegance...Thank you Lori and Greg.....

Thanks for your review, and glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We have tried to provide several ammenities for our guests enjoyment, but the best ammenity is probably the peace and quiet that allows for relaxing. We have started the boat tours, and guests have really enjoyed getting out on the water. It was wonderful to meet you both and hope to see you again one day!

The Inn is a amazing: casual elegance without being too "fussy." Greg and Lori always have time to have a conversation with guests and discuss the activities available, the town and surrounding area, the history of the Inn, which roads are bicycle friendly, how to raise fruits and vegetables and get them to the table, (the freshly picked strawberries were worth the entire cost of the night's stay!) I would go back again anytime....

Room Tip: The Captain's room has an unequaled view -- windows on three sides overlooking the grounds and w...

Thanks for your lovely review, and glad you had a nice time! We are missing our fresh strawberries, but managed to freeze several that we are still using to make our strawberry cream cheese french toast casserole, and there are now plenty of blackberries coming in with blueberries just around the corner. All the best and thanks again!
