My wife and I spent two nights at the Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke, Va. What a beautiful property on 250,000 acres. It was so interesting to learn the history of the property; it was beautifully decorated and the staff there very friendly and welcoming. No TV in the rooms and no A/C.....didn't even miss them. Cool mountain nights are all the AC you need. There is a TV in the bar if you really need one! The food was good but the kitchen and the restaurant staff are still a bit inexperienced but what they lack in experience they do make up for in their friendliness and willingness to make your stay comfortable.. We understand that the lodge had reopened on 1June and we were there on 12June so hardly enough time to get all the kinks out. We plan to go again in the Fall, and we are confident that it will be much improved.
