“Second trip as good at the first!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2007

This was our second consecutive year celebrating our wedding anniversary at the Inn at Riverbend, and we had another wonderful experience! Lynn and Linda, the owners of the inn, truly know how to make you feel welcome. We have been amazed at how comfortable and relaxed we feel there. The inn is easy to find using the website directions, and it's close to a host of interesting outdoor and cultural activities. We went to Blacksburg for the Stepping Out Festival and found a couple of souvenirs to take home. For recreation, we enjoyed a kayak trip on the New River with Tangent Outfitters and rode mountain bikes at the Pandapas Pond trail system. Breakfasts at the Inn were delicious and were a good time to socialize with other guests. At dinnertime, we had excellent meals at The Bank restaurant in Pearisburg, on the deck at the Inn, and at Cabo Fish Tacos in Blacksburg. For a quick lunch, try Tangent Outfitters' Cascades Cafe in Pembroke. The Inn at Riverbend is becoming a special retreat for us, a place to truly get away and enjoy one another. We look forward to many return trips in the future and highly recommend the inn to other travelers.

We were greeted as though we were old friends, even though this was our first visit. The view from the balcony outside our room was breathtaking. The bed was wonderful. The innkeepers were extremely helpful with suggestions for restaurants and things to do. They even arranged for perfect weather! The only negative was the train whistle which woke us intermittently during the night. We had a room on the main level, but we'd recommend one on the lower level so that you don't hear other guests as they come and go.

  • Liked — The friendly, helpful innkeepers and the fabulous views
  • Disliked — the noise from the train

We had a lovely two-night stay at the Inn. The view was wonderful and was exactly like the pictures. The room was very comfortable. I think it was the most comfortable bed away from home I have ever had. The hosts were most friendly and were attentive to our needs. The breakfast was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this Inn to anyone.

  • Liked — The view
  • Disliked — I wished they had adirondack chairs because I think they are comfortable for everyone instead of the rocking chairs.

My fiance and I stayed at this Inn last summer. It was absolutely amazing in everyway. The hosts were excellent, friendly and very eager to please. They cooked us steak with rosemary potato's one night. My fiance loves rosemary. They really try to exceed your expectations by customizing everything to your tastes. The rooms were very nicely decorated, the bathtubs were nice, and the view, well I can't say enough about the views. Definitely see the pics I have attached or check out the website to see for yourself. We went Kayaking the next day and they were even nice enough to make us a picnic lunch to go. Also dont forget to try the Chocolate Chip cookies which are homemade fresh daily. They were SOOO good. of course I love to chocolate chip cookies, so that was great. I have no complaints at all about my trip. We even bought Inn at Riverbend mugs so we could remember our experience.

A little off the beaten path and a little odd to find, it is worth the trip if only for the view. However, this "modern", built for hospitality little inn is really wonderful. Gracious spaces from the moment you enter, to the large, well situated dining room and including your accommodations. Our hostess, the owner, was very nice and espeicially accommodating. Breakfast could have been a bit more in terms of serving sizes.

The best! Simply the best. My wife and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary there on July 31, 2006. We have stayed at a bed and breakfast before, but NOTHING like this! This is one of the few places I have ever been where the location actually appears as it does on a website. Service is second to none. The food is delicious. The hosts are charming, warm, and eager to please. We enjoyed our stay so much that we re-booked our room (Logan) for Valentine's Day '07 before we left! If you happen to live in the DC metro area - it is a must, and definitely worth the drive. Several wineries, breathtaking scenery, and outdoor opportunities abound - surround this wonderful place.

  • Liked — Overall service
  • Disliked — Dinner served only on Sunday, Monday - it's too good to be served on only 2 days!
  • Tips/Secrets — If you go, go for more than two days - there really is a lot to do and see!

The Inn at Riverbend was my first bed and breakfast. It was the best experience of my life. The service was fantastic, the food was excellent and the view was breath taking. Anyone that wants to relax and really enjoy nature should make plans to stay at this wonderful establishment.
