“Great winery experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

Being very familiar with the Coney pinot noir from my local Majestic outlet in the UK it was a real pleasure to visit the source of this fabulous wine. We had an informative and amusing wine tasting provided by Tim Coney as we sat around our dining table and ate a fabulous lunch (lots of Ottolenghi influences) prepared under the watchful eye of Tim's wife Margaret. In addition to the pinot noir I loved the syrah - which I had with my beef dish. The rieslings and Pinot Gris tasted wonderful too - I just wish they were also available at Majestic. The modern cellar door and restaurant space set amongst the vines is charming. I highly recommend a visit to the Martinborough wine region and in particular to the Coney Winery and estate.

“Good food, good wine, good company, great combination”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We were able to have a personal tasting at our table before eating. This was nice because as they were busy and we were waiting for the next tasting we were sitting down and chatting, instead of standing at a bar waiting. The owner did all the tastings himself and was informative and quite a character. Food was good, we all had different food and enjoyed them all.

“Always worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

If you're looking for a relaxed, no-fuss vineyard lunch in Martinborough this is a good place to start. Eat among the vines and enjoy the sun, or retreat under cover when it gets too warm or blustery For a small winery the menu is simple but classy and the food excellent. Good range of better than average wines which can be tasted with explanations at your table (try the driest riesling, it's excellent). And the owner Tim Coney is always good for some cheery badinage. If you're ever in the wine capital definitely an essential lunch stop!

“Great location, good food and wine. Definitely one to visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013 via mobile

Coney has a small lunch menu with the expected range of meat choices covering beef, pork, lamb and fish. Vegetarians also get provided for.

Prices are average for the area but the food presentation and quality is much better than average!

Our group of four choose curry, beef, pork and vegetarian. The vegetarian option was excellent as was the beef. The curry was really nicely presented. The pork wrap was poorly executed and despite being Asian styled, was served with a wheat bread wrap.

Deserts and starters were good.

The wine was great and the pre-lunch tasting was comprehensive albeit accompanied by equally comprehensive (and constant) spiel from the Coney Character!

We left happy, pleased with a good meal and two cases of wine in the boot.

Highly recommended.

“Just out of the Village, but Oh so worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Just a little way out of the village but the food and their Pinot Noir is just the best. Try the different way of tasting plates with their wines. Great little restaurant right in the vineyard, genial hosts and Oh, did I mention their Pinot Noir?
