After walking around in the sun to look at the art at the beach, it was time for some simple food. We were right next to Amberjack's which is across the street from the beach. Cannot be more convenient.
The storefront has 5 or 6 tables inside and few others outside on the sidewalk, a very informal place.
Since we were there for lunch we order a single order of fish and chips. The person taking the order seem to think that we were not hungry but the order size is enough for two. After a short wait our order was ready and we stepped to the counter to pick it up. It was wrapped up in butcher paper the way any real meal is.
When we unwrapped the bundle using the paper as our table cloth, we found two large slabs of crisp batter fried fish and plenty of chips/fries for two. The crust on the fish was a crunchy coating for sweet juicy fish within, No salt was needed to accent the perfectly flaky fish. The fries were hard fried and crunchy as well. We has some of the creamy slaw with it that was fresh and creamy.
At the end of the meal, we were both satisfied and ready for more beach time.
The service is at the counter and workman like and able to efficiently handle many people at lunch time. We sat inside so we were out of the sun and the wind but still able to see across the street to the beach.
There are several places for lunch in Cottesloe but this place is good for someone looking for perfectly prepared fish and chips.
