George, I am sorry we never responded. I had a listen back through the messages over the last week and couldn't find a message from you? it must have just slipped into the void.

The last few weeks have been very busy for us here, we are trying to build some new facilities, a riders lounge and accommodation on site. This is a small family run business, and unfortunately we have been under staffed the last week with Kath (my mother) needing major surgery on her back, and has not beed available.

Again I am sorry we missed your calls, and i hope you keep us in mind for future visits to the area.
Warm Regards, Clay Baird

“A horse riding experience that will be hard to beat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Daisy and the team were perfect 'hosts'. We had a group of ten from beginners through to dressage riders. Everyone was catered for. The horses were perfectly matched to each rider. For those looking for a 'Saddle Club' through to a 'Man from Snowy River' experience- Bogong has it covered. Great laughs....... and memories. The entire experience was fantastic.

“Labour Day weekend packhorse trek”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

This is a trail ride like no other. Weeks later, I'm still dreaming about it. The Baird family have been taking people into the mountains on horseback for almost thirty years and their experience and love of the country is clear for all to see.
We had perfect weather: warm blue days and clear crisp nights. (No matter how hot it is down below, remember it does get cool up the mountain and the weather can be very changeable, though we were lucky. We certainly used the thin thermal layers we'd packed for night time, even though the rest of the country was experiencing a heat wave.) We set up camp in a sheltered scenic clearing just below the High Plains. It took us six or seven hours travelling up the mountain to get there, through all different kinds of bush. The next day we headed up on to the plains themselves to explore, before coming back down the mountain on the last day.
Sleeping under the stars in your cosy swag (with the added bonus of a special mattress you can pump up quickly and easily by hand, luxury!), then waking as light breaks to the sound of hobbles gently clinking as the horses graze close by, with plentiful supplies of coffee and billy tea already brewing on the open fire ahead of a hearty cooked breakfast is a great way to start the day. All the gear is carried in by sturdy packhorses, whose packs are like the proverbial magic pudding as such a variety of fresh and delicious meals are created from their contents - no one will ever go hungry on this trip!
The Australian stock horses, all natural-horsemanship schooled by the Bairds, are fantastic: spirited but calm, happy and willing, with beautiful manners both on the ground and when riders are in the saddle. Horses are living creatures, not machines, and this trek takes you into remote wilderness areas not necessarily accessible by vehicles. So safety is a huge priority for the Baird family and they ensure all riders are well equipped to safely enjoy the ride. This meant everyone in our small group, whose riding experience ranged from plenty to not much, quickly gained in confidence as we hit the trail.
Spending three days in the saddle means you have a real opportunity to bond with your horse, making this experience so much more special than an ordinary trail ride. Amazingly, none of us - riders ranged from a person in their sixties to a remarkable stoic ten year old - got too sore. I think the mostly leisurely pace and comfortable stock saddles have something to do with this.
The Bairds are such a fun, generous and hospitable family, and we were treated to (yet another) delicious, relaxed dinner at the end of the ride at their beautiful home. By this time our group, initially strangers, had bonded into a tight happy unit, and we all vowed to return - only this time for the five-day trek!
If you love horses and have always dreamed of seeing the High Country, this is the way to do it. Truly, the adventure of a lifetime.

“Just Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

My kids (12,14) and I had a wonderful experience ... The guides were lovely and Daisy in particular, made us feel so at ease. She did a great job explaining everything to us, and showed us how horses react and how to handle them etc in the introduction. She did it very professionally but at the same time entertainingly:)
We were all matched with perfect horses and had just the best 2 hour horseback ride adventure:)
Thank you all !

My experience at Bogong Horseback Adventures was incredible. The people/guides (Daisy, Flo, Hannah) were lovely, and really cared for the customer, myself. It wasn't just a job for them, they really wanted to be there and also show the true side to horses, which isn't always portrayed in movies. The horses were also very beautiful and loving creatures. They listened to our command and made the experience heaps of fun, for an easy, relaxed and joyful experience. The method of training the horses really stood out to me. The method was natural horsemanship. This is when calm instructions using body language and occasional "horse talk" to get the horse to obey orders. This was a great environment to be in, where the horses were happy and the people were happy too. Overall I was incredibly impressed and recommend to anyone. If scared or nervous around horses, this is definitely the right place to be to overcome that. The guides really understood that fear can be in place and are happy to assist and reassure comfort and fun. The horses were treated correctly; and with that in place I believe this is the best place to go horse riding.
