I recently stayed at this property for 4 nights. I had a poolview room which also overlooks the bay, so I wouldn't bother paying the extra for a Bayview Room. The room (#20) had a queen sized bed and a day bed, table & 2 chair, TV (4 channels, no in-room movies), kitchenette (fridge, sink, tea/coffee facilities). The bathroom was a bit cramped...the shower was huge and I suspect is used for people with disabilities, however, the actually shower head was one of those hand-held jobs. The toilet was very much in the way and there was very little room to dry off. The water would alternate between hot and cold and the water pressure was not that great. The on-site restaurant/bar was large and divided into 2 sections - upper level near the bar was dedicated to breakfast, the lower level being for dinner. The continental breakfast consisted of cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurt, breads, juices and tea/coffee. There was a hot breakfast for more $$. The dinners were good but I found them to be a bit on the expensive side. Main courses averaged at about $26.00 - $30.00. I actually ordered off the children's menu ($10.00) and still received and adult sized meal. The waiting staff in the restaurant were excellent. Despite a lovely and quiet location, this property (and American River) is a little isolated. There is a general store about a 10 minute walk down the road from the hotel, but there aren't really any other eateries nearby, so either be prepared to pay the restaurant prices or maybe eat in Kingscote and then travel back to the hotel.
