“Average all around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

The good thing about this restaurant is that there are few decent restaurants in the area - mostly fast food joints. We travel Hwy. 15 quite a bit and are glad to have a restaurant option. There is nothing special about the Silk Mill Grille other than the building which is interesting. The food is very average. At least you can get a salad with some dark greens and not all ice burg lettuce. I had a salmon salad and the salmon had obviously been pre-frozen (probably for a long time!!) but was palatable. My partner ordered a bowl of soup (mushroom something or other) with her entree and it was awful! However, this place is still better than the other choices in town. Our waitress was, as the meal, average. I would eat here again as a traveler but would certainly not seek out the place if I was a local.

“Interesting restaurant in an old mill/warehouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Food was good and reasonably priced. Interior showed the remnants of the old silk mill with lots of silk mill tools hanging on the walls.

“interesting location, average food, good service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

this is located in an old parachute production mill, and the location is really neat! The food was good, but not exceptional. The service was quite good.

“Awful service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

I just want to say some of the people working here need to take a class on customer service. Starting with the owner. You can not run a business if your not trained on how to offer good customer service.

“better than I thought it would be!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

my boyfriend and I visited silk mill grille on a Sunday evening for dinner, after visiting local wineries in the area . we decided to go after looking at the menu online and speaking with the hotel front desk clerk . I was a little worried when we arrived based on appearances, and the large number of empty tables . the furnishings seemed dated and sparse . we had called ahead to inquire about their corkerage policy $10, since we had found many treasures at local wineries .
we ordered wings for an appetizer, my boyfriend is quite a connoisseur of them . we enjoyed them thoroughly, cooked well and the sauce had the perfect amount of vinegar spiciness . boyfriend ordered blackened salmon with a Caesar salad and baked potato . salmon was spiced and cooked perfectly, the filet was not as thick as we've had elsewhere, but perfectly cooked . ceases salad was a bit small, but dressed nicely with lots of shredded parmesan .
I ordered the filet mignon (only $20!) with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes . this chef knows how to cook! steak was perfectly medium as requested and a nice quality cut of beef . the steamed veggies (broccoli and carrots) were steamed but still crisp and vibrant! the mashed potatoes were redskins, great texture but needed a bit of pepper and salt .
our server was incredibly sweet, although it did take her a bit of time to initially help us . all of the wait staff seemed very busy, despite the lack of patrons, which I thought was odd . we really enjoyed ourselves here, and will be back on our next visit to the area .
