We visited for a late lunch. We went to Sparks as it was recommended as a top lunch place in Orange. Atmosphere was fine, nothing extremely notable from other small cafes, however, nothing negative either.
Staff was very pleasant, however service was just average. Perhaps because we were there after the usual lunch crowd (around 1 p.m.), the staff seemed more focused on busing tables and cleaning up in the back so we waited longer than we would have expected with a half full restaurant.
Food was just average overall; several of us had the warm turkey and Swiss croissant sandwich, it was fine, just somewhat bland (totally edible, just nothing we couldn't have made at home); pasta salad was too overloaded with a thick sauce. One of our group got the quiche of the day and couldn't finish it as it was somewhat mushy and she said not very tasty.
Several got the pumpkin ice cream for dessert and enjoyed it.
Bottom line; it's a pleasant place and if we happened to be in Orange at lunch time would likely try it again as there isn't a great selection of places to eat there. However, wouldn't drive out of my way to go there again.
