We all have a bucket list, and this was on my husband's. Not mine! But his. So I decided to venture and sign up for it, knowing that I had 48 hours to cancel via the hotel where we booked.
We were planning on renewing our vows later that evening on the beach and my goal was to survive. With an extreme fear of heights....I didn't know if I was going to be able to do this.
Being 55 years young, and my husband 69 years young....I thought he was crazy!
Our tour guides, Melizza and Andrew were the BEST! I could not have gotten through it without them. They both knew I was petrified of heights, and only doing this for my hubby. They made me feel safe at all times, always helped me through each of the 8 ziplines and hugged me at the end.
Trip up in the bus on rocky road, but fun. Of course, not expecting to do this, my only sneakers were brand new white ones that I brought. Needless to say, they were not white at the end of the trip, yet a sink and some scrubbing brought them back to semi life. Do not wear any white clothing as mentioned! Free water bottle, nice touch. Had lunch between lines 4 and 5. Lunch decent, although I was so scared of what was to come didn't eat much. The first 4 lines I thought were okay....I got through them. Then came lines 5-8. Did I say that we then had to run off the ramp for one (yes, run...although if you walked you wound up being in the air anyway) and on another go off backwards??!!!! Did I say how terrified I was? But I did it! And it was only because of Melizza and Andrew!!!!
The views (if one looks, which I did occassionally) are beautiful. They take a picture of you while on the lines and ask that you turn and wave, etc. Not me! I hung on for dear life with the "death" grip. But....made it through.
While I will never go again....only for my own fears, the experience was thrilling and the guides made it awesome. Just do it. You will be so glad you did. Quite the experience to talk about!
Thanks again to Melizza and Andrew. They even helped me get down the hill to the last line by carrying my metal holder (not sure of the correct name!) Great company.
