“great manager, fine hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

This place was a delight. The wifi, fridge, cooler, and comfortable beds were great, but the treatment we received from Ramon, the manager, encouraged me to write a stellar review. When we arrived at Posada, we were quite frustrated because it had rained the entire day. Feeling bad, he drove us to a closer beach to salvage our day. When my friend stepped on a sea urchin there, he called a boat captain that he knew to learn about what we could do and then drove us to the hospital. He stayed with us at the hospital and helped translate the doctor (my friend was completely fine by the way). His friendliness helped salvage the trip. I would definitely return to his hotel.

The rooms were pretty basic. There was a fridge. If there was wifi, it didn't reach our room. It's reasonably priced, though, and there is an absolutely gorgeous patio on the canal.

We enjoyed our stay at Posada thoroughly. Rooms were simple and clean, and the hotel is at the heart of things. There is a nice deck behind it on the canal. The manager, Ramon, couldn't have had more knowledge about what to do, where to go, and was very helpful. The beaches, especially Flamenco and Zonio, were heaven. If you drive out at night to a quiet road, the stars in the pure darkness are overwhelming.

Room Tip: I liked the second floor and think it is probably quieter. Ask for anything you need--like extra pi...

My cousin and I enjoyed this little quaint guesthouse. We arrived off a flight on Air Flamenco where I was able to view 3 whales from the charter window. The guesthouse opened about 9:30am and the gentlman that worked the guesthouse was very helpful and provided excellent . The only reason to not provide a 5 star rating was because our room was next to the street and we could hear cars and roosters.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street.

Enjoyed our overnight stay here. Simple, clean rooms close to everything. Ramon the owner was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has lockers for guests to store bags, which is a great idea if you are checking out of the room in the morning but plan to spend the rest of the day at the beach before catching the evening ferry.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

We wanted to book 3 nights at this hotel and since was a busy weekend they only had a room a 2 nights so we booked the first room at the Lighthouse. Unfortunately for them, this hotel in comparisson witht the Lighthouse is poor quality for the money. The owner was nice and helpful but he could only do so much when the hotel is in a bad location and poorly maintained. The towels were so old, stained and cheap they looked like rags, the linens were not cotton but polyester, I've never seen polyester linens in a hotel or hostal before, imagine a humid climate and sleeping in itchy synthetic sheets.... I must say the linens & sheet were the worst I've ever seen and for the $125 I am sorry, there is no excuse......The floor in both rooms we stayed were dirty, teh maid never cleaned tehm, I walked to the bathroom and my feet were grey and full of dirt. But wait, the worst thing is actually the location and I thought this is thee strenght of this hotel, I was mistaken.......the hotel is located in a busy intersection and the rooms have no windows, only shutters, I couldn't sleep the whole night, there were people walking and talking loud in front of the windows, cars and motos driving fast late at night, the roosters woke me up every hour and the garbage pick up was too early in the morning.....
At the Lighthouse we paid $80 for a room, had Ralph Lauren towwels, new sheets, new painted rooms, very clean bathrooms, good coffee in the room, a very friendly and helpful owner on the property at all times, unlike Posada la Hamaca when you half the time or more the reception was closed, yes, and no one at night either....
I think the owner should invest some more in the amenities and disclose on the site how loud the rooms are, the ones by the street should be cheaper. We were informed by him when we arrived we were going to sleep in a very noyse room, I was shocked, because nowhere on the hotel website is specified......

Room Tip: Stay away from the street rooms

It would be tough to pick a more convenient location on Culebra-a 5 minute walk from the ferry dock, 20 minutes walk from the airport and steps away from most of the best restaurants on the Island. And the outdoor deck on the canal was a very pleasant place to "chill out".

The rooms were small but clean and had all that we needed-satellite TV, wireless internet, a fridge and microwave. Beach towels, coolers and ice were also provided. When we asked for a change of bedlinens (the ones we started with were a bit threadbare) management was happy to change them. This isn't a Hilton, but it's all that you need on Culebra.

Room Tip: Get a canal view room if possible.
