“Great little museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

Thanks to Luz for showing us around this lovely little museum. You must try and see it while you are in Culebra. The video is worth the trip. It tells the history of the island and relationship with the navy through the eyes of older Culebrensians. There are also many interesting archaeological displays. The building has been restored by volunteers and is beautiful.

“Small but interesting museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We stopped here on the way back from biking to Zoni. We had gotten lots of sun, and the AC felt wonderful. The museum is in an old house and costs just a few bucks. It had a small but interesting selection of some early pottery and such, and the other highlight is a film that details the history of Culebra, complete with testimony from old-timers you might then see on their porches somewhere in Dewey!

“If you care about Culebra - Visit the museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

It's a bit off the beaten path, although you'll see signs directing you there. It's certainly worth the trip if you are interested in island history.

Built in a refurbished 1905 stone building, the museum is very well done. There are artifacts and displays showing the islands history, but the most engaging story is told in the video they show. It's quite long (about 45 minutes) and you may not sit through the whole thing, but it tells the story of the old days through the time when the US Navy took over the island and up until the present day. Most of the speaking is from elderly island natives and each has a remarkable story.

After all of the great beaches, guest houses, restaurants, and fun, take an hour or two to get some insight on the history of the unique island of Culebra. It will be time well spent.

“Great little museum”

Stopped here on our last day in Culebra. Very informative and a great value ($1 entrance fee). Learned a lot about the history of the island.
