This was my favourite B&B of our entire trip, mainly because of the wonderfully warm and friendly owner, Patricia, who went out of her way to make the stay comfortable. Her cooking and baking was excellent - her "sticky buns" are justifiably famous. Not only was breakfast wonderful, there were snacks available throughout the day.

The house itself reflects all the interests of the owner and is a mini-museum on its own. Our room was very nice and comfortable. The gazebo in the back was a comfortable place to relax.

Clarenville made a good location to stay when travelling in the area and offered several good restaurants.

This is our second stay at Pat's Island View. Her place is easy to find, on the main road (it can get a little noisy if the windows are open and you are in the front room) She's a retired teacher, and she has all sorts of interesting artifacts, her doll collection, stories of shipwrecks (not only the Titanic), and lots of things that would be interesting to young and old. She's added some bathrooms, so I think each of the three rooms has its own bath. We loved our room (lcd ty on the wall, lots of stations), very nice sheeting and covers.

The highlight is her hospuitality: a snack when you arrive, and a full breakfast, with homemade breads and cinammon toast You can have eggs anyway you want, and lots of cereals (I esp. liked her raisin bran- forgot to ask her what kind?). Clarenville is a perfect stopover point, but it has sites of interest as well, including a beautiful little walk to their shoreline, right outside her place.

Room Tip: front room could be noisy, but it wasn't bad for us.

This B&B is on the main road but has a lovely backyard pagoda that guests are welcome to use. Pat and her dog Ariel live in the basement and the rest of the house is shared with the guests. Pat has her doll collection and other interesting antiques and photos on display. Tea coffee sticky buns and muffins were offered to me upon arrival. I like to walk in the morning and was happy to discover that the trans Canada trail is just down the hill with a nice view of the water. Breakfast was unimaginative with fake orange juice. This was redeemed with homemade bakeapple and partridgeberry jams. Conversation was friendly and congenial as guests sat around a common table. I will definitely book in here again next time I'm in the area!

We loved staying at the Island View Hospitality Home. It wasn't the most luxurious stay we had, but it was certainly the warmest and most enjoyable. Pat, the owner, is like sunshine. She has a great sense of humor and you really feel that she wants you to come, relax, and have a good time. And Pat has stores---wonderful stories---about growing up, teaching school in the area, about her heritage. She also has a room which she calls the "museum" full of articles from past generations of her Newfoundland family.

Our room, on the second floor, had an ocean view, queen bed, ensuite bathroom, television, and high speed wireless. Beds were comfortable. The house was remarkably clean and organized without being regimented.

In one of those happy situations that occur in bed and breakfasts, we had other people staying who enjoyed great conversations. Pat encouraged us to make coffee and tea, enjoy her sticky buns, and just stay up and have a good time. We took advantage of her offer.

She makes special jam from all the berries in Newfoundland. I got to see her apple berries in the refrigerator and taste those. Then, the next morning, she made partridgeberry nut pancakes which she served along with bacon, eggs, and toast. Do you know how to say "eat until you really can't eat another bite?"

The next day, our car had an engine light on and we needed to talk with Avis. Pat gave us her phone and telephone book, and what could have been a disappointing day was all straightened out easily. (Pat, if you see this, we took the car to Gander, turned it in, and got another. Thanks for your hospitality. We wish we'd stayed longer.)

It is a long way from St. John's to Port-aux-Basques, so we stayed outside the big city. Glad we did. This place is a hidden gem and the owner Patricia, is a wonderful lady. You should go just to see all the interesting things hanging on the walls and placed everywhere. It is a small museum filled with Nautical and antique family photos. you can spend hours just looking around and enjoying the surrounds INSIDE the home. The accommodations of course are also top notch - very comfy and quiet!

I'm referring to the owner and the B and B!

A cool home to hang out for a day or two. My family of 4 stayed here in July and we loved Pat's hospitality and funny stories. The rooms are clean and the kids loved all the dolls in the home! Breakie was great as well.

Keep up the great work.

This place is STELLAR. Patricia is one of the best hosts I've ever had... and her sticky buns are out of control. The house is adorable, with a lot of cool antiques from her family. She's from a long history of residents of Clarenville, a retired teacher -- the rooms were lovely (I think my only complaint is that I'm 5'10" and the shower head was about at the top of my head, taller people might have a small issue with that), she's got a great gazebo, perfect location in the town. I was traveling alone passing though Clarenville and she gave me some great tips about what to check out in the area. She is so accommodating, there is always food available and I will ABSOLUTELY stay there, hands down, if I am EVER passing though the area again. Breakfast was delish!
