“Quite lovely old character home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

We were greeted by our lovely hostess Melinda, told what time breakfast was in the morning, and given the keys to our rooms and told how to enter from inside or outside. We spent four lovley days at Harbour Lights Inn, with the staff helping us to make reservations for shows, and boat tours. The rooms were charming and quaint like a old heritage home should be, this place was very lovely just like there staff. We hope the rest of our B& B are just as quaint. We were given big hugs by the staff when we left today.

We've been staying at B & B's on our vacation and find that with the older homes they are unique. and one can only expect some rusticity. We loved sitting at the window looking out at the harbour. Our hostess greeted us and spent time to give us ideas of what to see in Twillingate as well as offered to make reservations for us. Staff joked with us in the morning and they were more than willing to accommodate our requests. Hugs all around when we left! Thank you for having us stay 4 nights! We truly enjoyed the rear stair entry, all three flights....we needed the exercise after eating at those great restaurants in Twillingate! :-)

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor facing the harbour, great view, quiet and cool breeze.

I found this place really shabby. Cheap bedding that smelled musty. Thin towels (only 2 in room). The rooms are small with cathedral ceilings which meant that I bumped my head getting in and out of bed!
I agree with the Pine-Sol review--vinegar and water would be so much better! It smelled really chemically in the hallways.
Breakfast was ok.

Twillingate is lovely but if this is your first night in Newfoundland, do not confuse the lack of hospitality at Harbour lights Inn with what you will find at other B and B's. This is the only place where we were not greeted well and had to pay as soon as we walked in the door. The building looks nice but rooms are very small, especially the one where we stayed on the top floor. Breakfast was disappointing - one bare egg was served grudgingly on a plate and other than that help yourself to a lackluster loaf of bread, mucky jam jars and happily a piece of fruit. The owner does not live on the premises.

While the location is central, there are many other places nearby. The room was too small, smelled bad and there were not enough towels. None of the blinds covered the windows properly, including the one in bathroom which overlooked hallway. Way overpriced for its 2 star quality!! Coffee was cold in morning. zero charm.

Its always good to hear from our guest so we can better improve our service and performance. We do use cleaners for sanitation purposes and sometimes it may be a little strong. We apologize to any of our customers but cleaners have to be used.Im not quite sure what is meant by low ceilings all of our rooms ceilings are 8 feet high.I understand that all our beds may not suite perfectly to everyones body type and this is something will realize on a daily basis. As for the cold coffee a new commercial coffee maker was placed at the inn today. The Harbour Lights Inn works hard to fit the needs of everyone but we know this is an impossible task.In the past 20 years the Harbour Lights Inn has had 36000 plus visitors and we know that a perfect record is impossible.

Stayed here 1 night in order to go see the icebergs. There are not many choices in Twilingate so this probably one of the better ones. The rooms were okay and we booked two facing the harbour. It was clean enough but really is in some need of updating.
We were disappointed by the breakfast in comparison to other b&bs we've stayed at.

we were there late October, so we didn't get to go out to see whales as it was quite foggy, rainy and windy which was disappointing but not much you can do about that. The Inn was in a good location. Breakfast was great and plenty of it. We had supper at the anchor just down the road which was good also. The room was ok, its nothing fancy but clean and meets your needs. There is a big jacuzzi which was a nice touch. Perry and his sister and father were helpful and very friendly indeed.
