“More rooms open now”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Fascinating house with great exhibition about Wolfe and His Canadian Campaign. The bedroom now has a Four poster in it.
The Kitchen is now on view and another room downstairs. Always worth a return visit.

“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

This is a smallish National Trust property that can easily be overlooked along side its more famous National Trust siblings in the neighbouring area. It is well worth a visit. Parking is not on site but only a small stroll away though I think there is a small charge even for members.
We were fortunate to hear an excellent guide give a talk on the house which I would highly recommend. Otherwise, the visit is not so much about the house as the military background of the family that lived there and the battles fought in Canada.

“Swashbuckling times”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Although Quebec House, once owned by Admiral Peter Wolfe in the 1700s and victor of the Battle of Quebec, is quote small and will not take up any more time than a morning or afternoon visit, it is well worth it. It is a National Trust property. On Sundays the nearby car park is free (a small charge is made at other times). It's on the main A25 (northside) in Westerham, Kent, and quite delightfully stuffed full of written and photographic records of this young sea Lord who died in his early 30s. There is a coffee shop, with a small museum in the loft above. The small town of Westerham itself has a number of coffee shops, hostelries and small boutique shops to browse - no department stores here to spoil it.

“Just not a very worthwhile property for the NT to own, or you to visit”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

This is not a NT property as most people think of it. It's not Chartwell or Standen or Knole. It's small sections of a small town house without much of a garden. It's right beside quite a busy road with parking at a distance and only basic catering.

So, General Wolfe lived here. He died in Canada. If you visit, you will learn more than you ever thought you needed to know about General Wolfe.

The NT have done what they can with the material and the volunteers are as generous and friendly and unstuffy as you'd expect. But it's still not really worth the trouble to visit unless you happen to find yourself in Westerham (and even then...).

This is one property I would have thought the NT should be looking to get shot of.
