“Haven of a place and great for little ones”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Don't be put off by having to drive through a Runcorn industrial estate to get here! This is a beautiful museum and gardens.
We didn't get to see much of the museum as the two little ones (5 and 2) love running around in the gardens and forests too much. They also like playing in the ruins of the priory, where we found lots of wildlife! The walled garden is gorgeous and feels like a real hideaway from the world outside.
The cafe is good and well priced. Our only slight negative is the cost of entry which is a bit pricey at just over £6 for an adult, but under 5's do go free. There is also free parking.

“Peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I saw this offer from Groupon - a family ticket and cake at a fantastic rate to visit Norton Priory. So, i went along with my children. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely lady who talked through layout of the museum and priory. From the main reception we walked to the walled garded. Helpful hint - taking wellies or trainers as it can be quite muddy on the walk to the walled garded. Considering it was the start of Spring and the flowers were only just coming out, the garden was still beautiful. Outside of the garden there was a little tea room. We spent about an hour walking around the gardens then went back to the reception area where we had our cake. Our lovely homemade cake!!

We walked through the museum which had amazing artefacts and a dressing up section which, as always, wins my children over. Then, at the back of the museum was a doorway to a part of the abbey. It was a beautiful, eerie room and behind that we saw the layout to the former abbey. There is something quite special about this place that I can't put my finger on but something very calming. I recommend a visit.

“Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Brilliant afternoon well spent looking round the priories remains. Heaps of info, staff are freindly and knowledeagble. This place is on my doorstep and have only been 5 times and yet seen something extra on every visit. Great walks too around the priory for a full day out plus a 'garden' to look at and a near by Norton Brewery. The cafe here is good, and fairly priced. Ideal for visits for families with children.

“fab activities in school holidays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

We visited Norton Priory in the school holidays, specifically their Gnome Day. There was an impressive range of activities from a trail in the grounds, to making a clay gnome, paper hat, fishing rod - you get the idea! There were plenty staff so we didn't have to hang around with impatient kids before getting started. The grounds are pleasant and interesting for young kids. We then went over to the garden which had another gnome-themed activity but the gardens themselves were interesting and the kids enjoyed all the paths.
