On arrival, the reception was unmanned, and we had to wait almost 5 minutes for someone to arrive and check us in. Our booking was retrieved and were we're given our key. The bedroom was what you would normally expect from a Premier Inn. In the bathroom however, a panel underneath the washbasin was not properly fixed and was just propped up on the floor. While this itself was not a problem, it was unsightly. Also, the soap dispenser on the washbasin did not work properly, so we were forced to use the one in the bath.
In the evening, we attended a family party, and had a good nights sleep. Having risen, we went to have our pre-booked breakfasts. After waiting a couple of minutes, we were shown to a table by a young girl and she explained where was the coffee and continental breakfast. When I asked how I obtained my pre-ordered full English breakfast, she said I ordered it with her, then walked away without taking the order. It was a further 10 minutes before my order was taken, in which time my wife had almost finished her continental breakfast.
When I came to place my breakfast order, I was immediately informed that not all items on the menu were available. I was not offered any alternative or any recompense. I finally placed my order, and when it arrived, not all of the items ordered were provided. By this time I had had enough, so I ate up and departed.
None of theses niggles alone would spoil a stay, but we were presented with a steady series of service failures to which the staff seemed to be indifferent. We will probably seek an alternative for the next time we stay in the area.
