“Gorgeous food and very friendly atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Went to the cedar tree last week with a group of 10 people which included 4 children. We had a lovely relaxed time with beautiful tapas, the best ive ever eaten. The staff and owner couldn't have been more accommodating, making sure both adults and children were happy. It was also very good value for money as before 7on certain days it's 3 for 2 on tapas dishes. I will definitely be coming again! Thank you

“Excellent food, slightly underwhelmed by the service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

We came here just on spec as we fancied a meal out but hadn't booked anywhere.

First impressions are very good, nice location, nice restaurant and lovely decor, tasteful but still slightly quirky.
We got a table quite quickly; the menu and how to order was explained to us.

The food was excellent, we enjoyed everything we ordered 9 dishes in total. We especially enjoyed the chicken stew and the oven roasted veg with goats cheese.
The food was great but I did feel the service could have been a little more attentive. A long wait to order dessert so we gave up and got the bill.

We will go again and especially on the nights they do 3 tapas for the price of 2.

I'm glad we tried here!

“Nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Went on a Saturday night so expected to wait for table and food but it wasn't overly busy and the service was excellent.
The food was good [portions Large] but felt the menu was a bit restrictive.
Atmosphere and decor is good and we will visit again.

“Good Value if you have a hi-life card”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We dined at the Cedar Tree for the first time in 18 months expecting it still to be an al a carte menu. The Tapas menu is very limited and we had to ask for the specials menu. We were served at the bar with drinks and told to sit in the lounge area.. No effort was made to bring any menus but by chance one of the tick menus had been left on another table so we used that to choose our dishes. We had to ask for a wine list and we were finally shown to a table 40 minutes later. The food was served 20 minutes later in dribs and drabs and was reasonably tasty although no effort was made made by the staff to see if everything was ok. We ordered desserts and Tony's Chocolate cheesecake arrived about 15 minutes later. After he had eaten his dessert I called the manager/owner over and asked when my Eaton Mess would arrive. This had been completely forgotten and she said she would go and prepare it herself. When it arrived there was very little evidence of any meringue but was a tasty strawberries and cream dish! The only saving grace was that, because of the hi-life card we got a 20% discount on the bill. I thought the whole idea of resataurants participating in the hi-life was to encourage diners to return, We won't bother!

I would like to say im sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us on Friday 17th August. We have very few disappointed customers so I do like to respond when we do. I remember you and your husband that evening as you were the only couple with a high life card and I remember the dessert incident. Your table was booked for 8pm and I recall you came in early and therefore you were asked to have a drink in the lounge area. You weren't offered a menu while in the lounge as they are already on the tables in the restaurant when you are seated, along with the specials menu. You were taken through to your table just after 8pm and your order was taken shortly afterwards. I apologise if you waited for your food but as everything is prepared and cooked fresh to order you may experience a delay on busy weekend nights. Tapa's is a sharing concept and different to most other types of cuisine as all the dishes do not come out together. It does state on the menu's that "dishes will arrive in the order they are prepared". This is standard in all authentic Tapa's restaurants. I do apologise if the 40 dishes to choose from was not substansial but again when all ingredients are fresh there has to be a limit on the amount of dishes you can produce. Apologies for the dessert misunderstanding. The waitress takes full responsibility and admits she didn't hear the order for the second dessert. Again, im really sorry you did not enjoy your experience that evening we do pride ourselves on having a majority of happy customers.
