“More than adequate for a weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2011

Have stayed here a couple of times now while visiting friends in Wilmslow. It's more than adequate if, like us, you just want a bed for the night in a clean, basic hotel at a good price. I would say the hotel is a small step up from the Travelodge kind of hotel - the room is a fairly generous size, plenty of room for your things, shower over a bath in the bathroom, tea & coffee making facilities, freeview tv and an iron & ironing board. That's it. No nice view, no mini bar, safe, room service etc - it's not that kind of hotel. Breakfast, if you want it, is available at extra expense in the pub next door. I would stay again as it's so convenient for the centre of Wilmslow and getting to Manchester for the day by train. The one down side is that the walls are very thin - so we could hear a crying baby and others talking and moving around in the neighbouring rooms.

My stay here was OK - large room on the ground floor. Room cleaned very well for 2nd night stay and reception staff very helpful.
Only issues, room a little cold, bathroom door wouldn't stay open so quite claustrophobic.
Highly recommend booking bed and breakfast because the breakfast is excellent even though the service from the young lass left a bit to be desired.

This is a great overnight hotel, hasn't got all the frills but clean comfortable bed and good value for money

Room Tip: The back rooms are the quietest.

Stayed here while attending friends' Ruby Wedding celebration

Woman on Reception was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and reasonably modern, however the communal areas need renovation

A worrying point from a health & safety angle is that the ground floor fire exit was blocked by filled laundry bags - something which indicates poor management and supervision of staff/premises

The hotel is a similiar offering to a Premier Inn, constructed from modular bedrooms.
The bedrooms were attractively furnished, reasonably spacious, clean and comfortable.
A very substantial English Breakfast (+ £7.50 p.p.) is served in the pub next door. We also ate dinner here one night which was excellent too.
Payment is on arrival, but annoyingly a receipt would not be issued until departure which had to be chased.
Well located for the centre of Wilmslow.

Stayed here last weekend at the special rate of £85 for two nights. Breakfast is not included and I was sent an email by the hotel a week before our stay informing us that breakfast would not be available during our stay (as an additional purchase) as the Coach and Four was being refurbished. This didn't bother me as the breakfast reviews had not filled me with confidence anyway and Sainbury's is literally across the road.

We stayed in a family room on the first floor (25). This was a very large room with a super kingsize bed and a sofa. There was another made up bed underneath the kingsize bed for one of our children. The sofa bed had not been made up on arrival and there was no bedding supplied for us to do this ourselves but reception soon sorted this out and when we returned later in the evening the sofa bed had been made up.

The room was more than adequate. Very spacious. I felt the bathroom let it down slightly as it was a bit shabby with a plastic sink (with a plug supplied which didn't fit the plug hole) and the grouting between the tiles around the bathroom could do with a good scrub. There was also a large stain on the carpet in the bedroom which looked unsightly to say the least. The main bed was not comfortable to sleep on.

We didn't have any problem checking in (as some reviews have mentioned) - in fact the reception was usually staffed when we passed by. The room we had was nice and quiet and the location was very convenient as we were visiting family in Alderley Edge which is just a short drive away. Wilmslow is also a lovely town with some great shops.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you get a good deal and I would probably stay here again.

A great location with plenty of things to do within a few minutes walk. We had twenty rooms booked for two nights for a local wedding. The bar and restaurant have a great atmosphere with a good selection of food and drinks (although a gin & tonic was a little pricey at £4.40ish). Unfortunately on the Saturday evening two members of the party arrived at the hotel at 1.40 and 2.30 and despite trying for sometime to get someone to attend the reception (it advertised 24 hour reception) to check them in and despite using the emergency number and phone number given they were unable to contact anyone so they had to make alternative arrangements. Another problem was that some guests had charges for breakfast and meals that they hadn't had. When these problems were brought to the attention of the presumably Manager his manner was rude and unhelpful He did not apologize for these difficulties which let the venue down and took a little of the pleasure away.
