I was somewhat hesitant about booking because of some earlier negative reviews, but trusted the most recent, as there had been mention of renovation work. The hotel is exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and has the sort of unique atmosphere missing from the big chains. The room was reasonably spacious with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, with very attentive service. Nice touches such as being able to order a morning paper, that one usually associates with more expensive USA hotels. Being originally from the North of England, it was a breath of fresh air to chat to the gregarious local staff. The foreign staff were charming too. The only things I would improve are a) room was a little too warm b) I missed a mini-bar. I travel a lot - worldwide - and never write reviews, but felt that this hotel had been done an injustice by some of the earlier reviewers and that I just had to correct this.

Having booked our wedding here a v. long time ago, I had several reservations due to the renovation work etc.

But in the run up to the wedding they were above and beyond efficient. The decor is lovely, our wedding coordinator Rachel was extremely efficient, Eamon the manager catered to our every whim, the food was gorgeous and all the rooms were newly decorated and very smart.

All our guests enjoyed themselves and those that stayed the night were impressed with their rooms.

Our credit card was used to secure room booking, but with our permission and I've seen this done at other hotels.

If I had to complain about anything, its that the drinks are on the expensive side, as is the breakfast. But I get the feeling most hotels the close to Manchester Airport are the same

We booked a room at this hotel in April last year for my sisters wedding next month. A mixup seems to have occurred and they have overbooked. Fair enough you might say. What happened next was unbelievable. The reception staff were rude,unhelpful and completely lacking in customer care skills. My other sister had the same experience. The manager failed to respond to our written complaint in person. As a consequence we have booked adifferent hotel. This is probably the first review of a hotel where the people haven't even stayed there(!), but if this is indicative of the way in which they treat their guests then I am very glad we didn't part with any money. Unfortunately my father has paid out a fortune on the wedding with them. (They also used his credit card details to guarantee several room bookings without his permission which we discovered during our dealings with them!). For a hotel that sells itself on its quality of service the whole experience was totally unacceptable.

What can I say? There seems to be an overiding acceptance of poor standards in many cheshire hotels these days!!

Having been for Sunday lunch and attended a number of weddings in the last year I feel that I am able to offer an opinion.

Is it acceptable for Hotels that claim to offer 4 star service to get away with being staffed by poorly trained young staff?? Waiters, barpersons and reception staff seem to have had very little training as they were unable to answer even the simplest questions !!


The standard of service provided here would never be tolerated in similar establishments elsewhere in the country, not just London.
