“Just a very poor hotel”

Firstly let me say the staff were great but they can only work with the tools provided....
x

Rooms are small and a nightmare when hot but for the price you deal with it..

The room was clean so again all manageable.

What wasn't manageable was the bathroom especially the shower the first room just pure scslding water no cold so asked to change rooms staff happily accommodated this to the room next door which had cold water but you couldn't get the temp right on shower and of course when others are using there showers back to being scolded oh and the shower holder was broke resorted to hosing down quickly before water got too hot although sadly my partner did suffer a slight burn...
to be honest wouldn't recommend the hotel not even for stag or hen party x

First impression was great, its when you dig deeper that you find it all.
Receptionist gave a great welcome, very friendly snd lovely. Room on entering was small but adequate. We left straight away but it was on return that evening all the problems were discovered.
The room stunk of pot, we quickly realised it was from next doors room but being so late at night we decided to put up with it. I sat on the bed for 10 mins and on getting up noticed I had developed a rash on my legs-slept under my coat on top of a towel I had brought with me that night as think it was the sheets. The radiator was on with no way of turning down or off-window was already wide open. Bathroom-shower looked new but was dirty. The next day it blocked up after we had taken our showers-gross.
Walls are paper thin, woke up many a time to people running up and down corridors. Yes it was friday night but running??? 4am a massive group appeared in front of the hotel chatting-seems it was friends seeing other friends off. It just kept us awake for ages.
Only 2 plugs in room-we had to unplug the tv and kettle to use them.
Breakfast wasnt bad-good choices. Only thing that alarmed me was the crunchy nut cornflakes and cornflakes were not labelled and I almost ate crunchy nut. I have a serious nut allergy and it could have caused me big problems!

walked into reception to find a black guy shouting at receptionist about ''black people not causing war'' !!!!!!!!! receptionist was misrable but hey ho, each to their own !! stairway and corridor stinks (foisty / rotten).
room is very small, it contains plasma tv, chest of draws, tea & coffee facilities and clothes rail above tv (see photos).
beds are clean, rooms are clean, nets up at the windows are stained and have cigarette burns in them. windows do not lock as there is no lock on them (see photo).
bathroom is modern and clean but very small.

overall ....................iv stayed in worse, but this is bearable for one night !!

The room is so tiny, you would enter and directly need to sit on the bed. Had been here for a night, for 50£ I prefer other hotels in east London ( Barking etc).
You would see Cigar ash in the non smoking rooms and also hear all sorts of noises from the road.
Positive aspect's being free Breakfast, near to Ilford National Rail.
I would avoid and look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Avoid room 7

We were looking for a twin ensuite room for 2 nights, to include parking and breakfast, for around £100 and were happy to stay outsde of London. After much research on many websites, we chose The Cranford Hotel. Admittedly the reviws weren't amazing but on the whole we got an ok impression of the hotel. On arrival (approx 1.30pm) we found there to be ample parking on the front of the hotel, but later on (teatime) the spaces were taken up by contractors, workmen, etc staying at the hotel. When checking in we had to ask the girl where the room was, which she was a bit vague about. We had to then climb 3 flights of stairs with luggage as there is no lift. The bannisters were somewhat in need of replacement. Once in the room we were relieved we were only staing for 2 nights....the room was tiny! The window did open quite wide but there was no ventilation in the room, which was very warm and stuffy. Tea and coffee were provided and a kettle, but no glasses for water. The sheets did not fit the beds properly and there was only one pillow each, though I must admit the beds were quite comfortable and we did sleep pretty well both nights considering. This was after being disturbed after 11pm on the first night by 2 very loud men, who tried the door to our room and then talked loudly for some time. The television was of good quality and there was a range of channels. Unfortunately there was only one double plug socket and no wardrobe. In the bathroom, the tap on the sink was loose and the shower head leaked. Hot water in the shower was luck of the draw. The only toiletries provided was a bar of soap which was not changed after the first day, and the only towels provided were 2 hand towels. The door to the room (which had a old style key rather than card) had a gap down the side and underneath so you could see into the corridor and the walls are in need of a lick of paint. We went into London all 3 days we were there, but after the first trek to Gants Hill tube station (which took approx 45 minutes!), we resorted to using Ilford Train Station to get to Stratford (£4.40 return) and then get a travel card/day rider for zones 1-4 on the tube (£7.70). The hotel is situated perfectly for the train station and also many shops are just round the corner, including Wilkos, New Look, etc. We called into a lovely pub called Jonos which is just down from the train station, and enjoyed a pint of Fosters! Breakfast was not too bad however. The breakfast room has 2 televisions which had breakfast TV showing, which was nice. You can have as much juice - apple or orange - as you like and there is a choice of about 3 cereals, eg, Cornflakes, Crunchy Nut, etc, again you could have as much as you like. There is only coffee served. Toast is brought out as you are eating your cereal, and the lady asked if we would like any more. Jam, honey, butter, etc is avaialble. The hot items are self service and consisted of mushrooms (tinned), tinned tomatoes, baked beans, bacon, sausage and fried egg. Breakfast was served between 6.30 and 9.00am during our stay and as we came down at 8.30am the fried eggs had all been eaten, but the lady asked if we would like any and cooked them beautifully! On checking out we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay, but were wished a nice day. We definitely wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: Avoid room 13!

My husband has been forced to use this hotel a lot over the last couple months due to his work being away from home. So far he has been refused a drink of water (there are signs in the bathroom stating its not safe to drink) It advertises wifi but this only works in reception and to top it all off he has had his clothes stolen out his room today !! The girl who cleaned his room (Suki) has blatantly denied it and nothing has been done about it at all! I sent an email to them and they haven't even BOTHERED to reply! Disgusting robbing Bas***** !!!!

My boyfriend and I had been looking for WEEKS for some where to stay during our time at the Olympics. We found this hotel, knowing a little about Ilford it's self and that it wasn't the best of places but thought for the price (£150 for two nights), free parking and the location of the hotel we would take a risk.

When we arrived we were both thrilled with this risk! Apart from having to wait about 45 mins when we arrived at 12 for our room to be cleaned we walked into the room and although small we were very impressed with how clean it was. We knew we wouldn't be spending much time in our hotel but felt so happy knowing that at the end of each busy day we would be heading back to this small, but clean and comfy room.

The station is soo close and this was brill in regards to us getting to Olympic venues and the breakfast each morning was yum. The staff were helpful and we are looking at booking there again when we go back down to London for the Paralympics. Fingers crossed we have the same experience.....

Room Tip: We were based on the bottom floor at the back. Room 33....we were both pleased with this hotel but d...
