We had given Michelin places a miss since a bad experience in Chez Bruce last year but the excellent reviews for Tristan and the fact that he is on the up tempted me here.
It was all top class and worthy of Michelin status. Great value at lunch time and as a bonus a pre starter smoked salmon velouté was thrown in. Food is all very clever with a lot of bits and pieces on the plate but it is flavoursome and perfectly cooked. Portions are a bit on the nouvelle cuisine side but there is a continual supply of bread on offer so you will not leave hungry. Soufflé for desert was beautifully done.
Service was excellent; informed and attentive but friendly. The three staff did a really good job in an almost full dining room.
