“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Ate here on a wild and windy December evening . The welcome was very warm . We were seated in a table in the window overlooking the outdoor patio . A great table . However some diners were eating in an area just as you enter the restaurant which seemed very impersonal and certainly not a table I would want. For starters we had a selection of Italian breads and some Sicilian sausage which were both very good . Our main course we shared a meat meze which was excellent. The plate was huge and consisted of 2 steaks which were a little overlooked 4 lamb chops 2 Sicilian sausages 2huge chicken breasts and some polenta chips. This I think was about £25 which I thought was good value. We also had side plates of roast potato and grilled vegetables again both superb. We were too full for dessert . The waitress was more than happy to wrap our leftover meat and allow us to take away. The restaurant itself is lovely. Almost like someone's front room. Atmosphere was lovely and warming . I would be happy to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

“Wonderful restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

This was the first time we had been to Carmela. We had such a good time. The atmosphere was so charming, warm and welcoming. All the staff knew their food and were very helpful and friendly. The menu was truely Sicilian and varied. The food tasted out of this world. We would certainly visit again.

“Fantastico!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

A modern twist to Sicilian cuisine. Ristorante Carmela adds a twist to Italian / Sicilian food that works a dream. Carmela Ristorante sits in a Tudor building on the corner of Denne Road in Horsham, which when your on the inside opens up into a smart, modern and charming Sicilian Ristorante.

“a good independent Italian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

First time here, Lee, David and I arrived at 7.15 and the restaurant was nearly full. Good atmosphere and welcome. Took drinks order quickly. Well staffed both in kitchen and front of house. We started off with minestrone type soup and an aubergine dish all very good. For mains two of us had large thin Pizzas (one veg and the other pepperoni) and the other seafood (without the squid) spaghetti. The other two enjoyed a nice bottle of Montepulciano £20 (and so did half the restaurant). Desserts we had pannetone and a couple of tarts with ice cream. Good. Nice coffee and D had an Amaro digestif.Total cost incl service £120 All very filling and good value for money.

“A restaurant that goes out of it's way to make you feel welcome, and excellent food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

We have eaten here several times now. As a couple, as a group of four friends, and as a family group and it's always the same. They DO go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and for us it is now the best italian restaurant in Horsham by a country mile. The food is Sicilian and there a few of the dishes that are a real suprise as they escape the run of the mill Italian available in other establishments. Quite a few of the old Italian favourites are here as well but done with the extra care and attention that you find rarely these days. Wine is good and reasonable as well.

I would say excellent value!
